I like this better for our team. Ray could use a bit more height tho for the center spot. I liked his game a few years back.

NBA size wise he is a PF but there is a dearth of true bigs in the G so most teams are using 6'8 6'9 guys at C. Spalding has looked pretty good this year in that setting, he is #21 in rebs and #11 in blocks, and ought to help the Swarm win a few games

I was wondering, do you think it could be a move just to get the swarm to win some games?

Yes I do

As an aside: the addition of two-way contracts has made it difficult for a struggling team like the Swarm to add impactful players from the GLeague player pool, because most G players with NBA skills are either assignees or two-way players. Used to be NBA team had 2 assignees now they have 2 assignees plus 2 two-way, taking four players per team out of the available free agent pool. There is a dearth of big Centers to begin with and the few there are, BOS two-way Taco Fall, for example, are owned by NBA teams, leaving not many impactful free agents. Kyle Alexander and Kenny Wooten signed two-ways with MIA and NYK this week taking them out of the market. So Ray Spalding is probably the best available at this point. I could see him ending up in CHA if Marvin Williams gets traded. I do not see him being a challenge to Zeller or Biz at C. I do think he should help the Swarm put up more of a fight and win some games.

I know you are half joking but I really would send Monk to Greensboro. He can dominate the offense, take a dozen three pointers a game until he gets confidence back in his game and his shot

I know probably seems like this thread has turned into the Caleb Martin highlight reel but he continues to be he only one to post highlights nightly for the Swarm. They are 3-3 since adding Spalding, but odd part is that since adding Spalding the team is starting Cody-Zeller-mini-me Thomas Welsh who is suddenly playing well at Center. (Welsh is way too weak to play NBA btw). Anyway, Caleb averaging nearly 30 the last three games, I think its about time to give him Bacon's spot on the big boy roster

The Hornets cut ties with Franks and now the Swarm have followed suit. Got a first round pick though!

With Caleb Martin and Jalen McDaniels in CHA it was Kobi Simmons who stepped up (recall that 6'5 PG Simmons played 20 mpg in 32 NBA games (12 starts) for Grizzlies in '17-'18 producing 6.1 points, 1.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game on 42.3% field goal shooting); Ray Spalding chipped in 25 (yes, they did lose, but WIS is the #1 team in G League)

Hope this is pretty clear indication that the G League is where Bacon belongs and Caleb has officially taken his Hornet roster spot

Bacon's score line: 16-29, 5-11, 7-10, 51 pts
+ one self satisfied smirk in front of a back drop of empty seats...

meanwhile Kobi Simmons somehow managed to add 30!

Bacon followed his 50 pt game with 40 in a loss to Cap City; still just burying his head and iso ball can't stand watching him play

Kobi Simmons with 30; Spalding with 13

Bacon doesn't look remotely interested in passing, straight into 3 or 4 defenders, just doesn't care.

yeah he scores high in G league, but it just won't work in the NBA.

This. He never looks to pass, he’s another empty stats kind of guy. Highly inefficient but had an NBA body and will get some shots in based on volume. Until he learns to play team ball, he won’t really be able to impact games for an NBA team in a meaningful way.

Bacon’s so selfish he wouldn’t pass a kidney stone.
