I would love his shooting on the perimeter, and hes tough, but I cant say hes the answer to our problems. Id say we give up defense (Harkless) for offense. And we toss away a #1 in the process.

Difficult for me to quantify how much better we are with Morris than Harkless. Obviously, if his shooting carries over, he makes us better, but will it? Hes a career 37% 3PT shooter. Certainly not a slam dunk he improves our rotation, but at least he opens the floor and you can bake him into the playoff rotation. Harkless seems matchup dependant in that regard.

QRich's Player of the Game threads tell the story. Morris can go off for 20 or even 30 and win you a game. Harkless can't.

I keep seeing we're 7-0 when Harkless scores 10 or more. All that says to me is that he's only done it 7 times all year. The rest of the time we're playing 4-on-5 out there.

Morris is a nice player, but he’s not really a 4/5. He’s more of a 3/4 … not sure we want/need that. He’s an upgrade over Moe, I guess...but that's a low bar. He's not a rebounder or a long enough guy to play at the 5. I don't see him helping us *that* much. I'd like his scoring, but I don't know if I see the fit.

Tristan Thompson? The Rockets should be trying to pry Larry Nance away from the Cavs. There’s a dude who can help a team … a real 4/5 that spreads the court very well and is a plus on both sides. I’d rather have him than Thompson or Morris or … well, almost anyone. Dunno if he’s available, though.

Btw … I thought the Nugs made out like bandits in the trade. Beasley turned down a 3 year/$30 million deal last year—luckily for Denver, since he hasn’t been nearly as good this year. Hernangomez has also been markedly worse this year and was a project to start with. Jarred Vanderbilt is a 15th man. In return, the Nugs got Vonleh—who is (much) better than Hernangomez and will pick up all of those minutes and more than a couple from Plumlee since Vonleh can spread the court a little. Shabazz Napier? Journeyman backup PG … but a guy who can help a team. (Like … the Clippers? I think Napier will be on the move again...and I think he'll be a target for us.) And Keita Bates-Diop has, honestly, been playing better than any of the players Denver traded. And they got a first round pick on top of that? Wow. I grade that as an A+ for them.

Things are heating up on the Marcus Morris front apparently. I’m not a fan for all the reasons Tucson mentioned, and hopefully the Shamet stuff is nonsense that’s not ever gonna happen.

They better leave shamet the hell alone. Get rid of Moe for Morris and a pick anything more is just being greedy

Here's my idea.
Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

No chance if they want Shamet.

The Lakers aren't giving up Green along with Kuzma either. I think we may be in the driver's seat for Morris unless Milwaukee steps in with the Indiana picks they got for Brogdon.

I'll take Danny Green for Mo Harkless!

L.A. gets Danny Green
N.Y. gets Kyle Kuzma and Mo Harkless
L.B. gets Marcus Morris

Wow. Could this actually work out better than we expect? Lakers trade Danny Green to NY for Morris. We somehow make a move with Harkless and others to get a player for $14M+ on an expiring deal. We then trade that player to NY for Green.

Another player that may be available and able to help us fill some gaps is Derrick Favors. With Zion back, he doesn't have a long term future in NO.

We could actually help facilitate a deal and nab Olynyk in it. We could do that deal moving Robinson, Kabengele and McGruder and keeping Moe for a different deal.

I would not want to be the team paying him $30 mil at his age.

Why not? That's how you contend for Championships.
You can't have a perfect roster with every player earning exactly what they 'deserve'.

Iggy is 36 years old, already borderline unplayable in the regular season, and there's a good chance this could be the year he's finally too old to make an impact in the playoffs either. $15 mil/year is insanity given the circumstances.

I read the second year is a team option and I'm guessing they're locking him up as a trade asset if it doesn't work out. Big blow to the lakers. I wonder what wing defender they'll be able to get.

I saw that the second season is not guaranteed, that makes it better, but that was quite the quick extension.

Return to Los Angeles Clippers
