Yeah. Feels like we are just throwing money away unless we are looking to rebuild his value and flip him next year or something.

I think Schlenk sees things how I see it. We have all this money but we likely won’t get a big FA to spend it on. So spend it on other things like a more than formidable backup center (+ picks) in exchange for two injury prone bigs who aren’t the defender or 3pt threat that Dedmon is.

Re: Hold Everything! THE DEDMAN RETURNS!
I like it. Dedmon can play this season while Capela is rehabbing, and next season it's just a cap increase of $7M (since Jabari was due $6.5M) for a capable backup big.
The season after we can cut Dedmon for almost nothing if we choose.

You guys get picks and a backup C for players who didn't seem to be in your long term plans. Dedmon is probably as good as anyone you'd have gotten in FA and his last year isn't guaranteed so I count it as a win. I really like the deadline you guys are having.

I love it. As someone who watched every game over the last 8 years, Dedmon was extremely missed this season.

We're just upgraded our Center position from Len and Jones to Capela and Dedmon.
I'm viewing Ded as a 1 year deal for next season, with Bruno ready the following season.
We still have a projected ~$50 million of offseason capspace and has been noted time and again, the FA class isn't considered great.
More importantly, it still leaves us flexible for 2021 provided we don't go nuts this offseason.

Parker wants to be in Milwaukee so sending him to the Kings made me laugh.

Takes away some cap this summer but doesn't really affect our numbers in 2021 (when the big big FAs will be there). I like the move. If Dedmon can regain the form he had here the past two years he'll be a very valuable bench piece.

He's shooting 20% from three.

Not sexy but solid move. Front-court is set for next season. Dedmon over Len/Parker is probably good for the Young guys. Late seconds will give TS Something to play with.

I’m not taking that percentage at face value.

We're basically filling our summer Free Agent shopping list now. ( Starting Center, backup Center, veteran backup PG)
Per ESPN Insider:
With that in mind, this looks more like an asset grab by the Hawks to help replenish a depleted store of second-round picks. Atlanta didn't previously have a second-rounder this year or in 2021. It also could be an indication that Capela might miss an extended period due to the plantar fasciitis that sidelined him with the Houston Rockets prior to the trade.
Dedmon is drastically overpaid for a backup center but certainly useful nonetheless. Between Capela and Dedmon, the Hawks have taken on a lot of 2020-21 salary this week. Yet they still project with almost $50 million in cap space depending where their pick lands in the lottery, so Atlanta will have plenty of spending power in free agency or to take on more bad contracts in trades.

Thank you, Schlenk. I still hate you, but you're doing good.
