Woj: DLo to Minny for Wiggins

I suspect that D'Lo's value around the league is a lot lower than what fans perceive his value to be. Everyone keeps saying he was an all-star, but he made the all-star team as an injury replacement in the east. That's the Mo Williams special.

I think this is it, they both max contracts, neither really winning, why not pick up a pick off a bad team, in a better draft, and try to get a better fit with your 2 returning stars? (is it fair to say Wiggins should be a better fit than Dlo with Klay and Steph?)

Am I the only one who thinks this is lateral at best for the Wolves? Taking the RoCo trade into consideration, honestly, how bad are they going to be defensively? This is a “make Towns happy” trade that, in my opinion won’t move the needle at all.

They only reason why Mo Williams is underrated is because he played with LeBron. He was a great player.

GS desperately needs more firepower now that Green's offense has disappeared. Dlo could have been that 3rd scorer they needed after Durant left. They are now pinning their hopes on the draft in order to win another title.

It's only top 3 protected, and unprotected the following season (2022) if it doesn't convey. As with all trades involving significant trade assets, it'll probably take a couple of years to know who won this one.

Memphis, they came out with GS 2024 top 4 protected. At this rate I'd put money it will have better value than the Minnesota 2021.

They have a whole off season to tinker a roster around Kat, Russel & a 2nd year Culver. As bad as the 2020 draft may be, I would have went with the guaranteed pick.

A disastrous series of moves for the Timberwolves, I have no idea what they are thinking.

They are less talented and surrendered what's invariably going to be a high lottery pick for the privilege.

I am stumped, but I like it for the Warriors.

Huge bet on Wiggins turning it around, but he's a more natural fit and a change of scenery where he isn't relied upon to carry the load might do wonders for him, but it's the lottery pick that I love for them here.

I think you’re right. You have to figure most execs aren’t as dumb as fans. DLO’s an asterisk All-Star. One time appearance as an injury replacement in the weaker conference. Not a guy I’d want on a max deal.

Protection aside, Minny has a good chance of putting together a decent team next year. Wouldn't be surprised if they make the playoffs.

They have DLo, Beasley, Okogie, Culver, Layman, Juancho, KAT, Dieng.

They can open up a max slot in the off-season.

I feel like Minnesota is in the "I'll believe it when I see it" zone after the last, I don't know, thirty years.

Only rationale I can think of is that DLo demands too much usage which takes away from Curry's touches. So Wiggins would be a better fit with the Warriors once Steph and Klay are healthy.

Good trade for both teams, KAT needed a spark.

DLo should fire his agent. He was 100% signed to be moved, which everyone knew. Now he’s in a place he had little to no say over.

I like the fit with Minnesota however. I also oddly think Wiggins might prosper with GS.

Did he get similar/equivalent interest from other teams? I don't remember.

I get your point, but participating in the sign-and-trade may still have been the best option for him. If everyone on Realgm knew this might happen, DLO and his agent surely did as well. How would you not know, considering GSW already has Steph and Klay.

GS gave up their own 2024 top 4 protected & a pick to Nets for Wiggins Minnesota 2021 top 3 protected. Where at the start of the year it would have taken a pick or 2 just to dump his contract.
