I think OP was referring to this offseason. I’m assuming Riley doesn’t want him to walk for nothing this offseason. He wants him for sure next year and a team option the following year to pursue Giannis or someone else.

The goal is really 2021. If he's going to walk, so be it. That's one less player taking up cap.

Unless we're giving up something of value other than the players we've shipped out already. Then I understand the need for an extension.

Still sucked to lose Justise but we can pretty much agree that this deadline was a win for the FO right? Justise wasn’t playing and looked like he was never coming back, Dion & JJ(LOL). We’ve come a long way from those guys not being moveable pieces and look at that, moved without a single draft pick. I wanted that Gallo deal but we did extremely well without that deal getting done. They’ve opened up cap space for this summer and kept the flexibility for next while adding players who’d contribute to this team right now than holding on to dead weight. A+ grade for me.
