James Jones vindicated!

Is he? Doesn't it just point out that he almost got hoodwinked into getting Marshon Brooks? And that he passed on Clarke? I really don't see any positives for Jones when mentioning the Grizz.

I'm not Staning for Jones and think he's done a meh job so far but that Brooks thing was on Grunfield. I mentioned this yesterday, John Hollinger was a member of the Griz FO at the time and he told Lowe on his pod that all communication for that deal was done by Grunfield.

As far as Clarke honestly I fault Jones more for not taking my guy PJ Washington who went with the next pick. Clarke was a weird prospect and got passed on by 9 more teams after the suns. Now it looks like teams were foolish for it but the suns were far from alone in having doubts his game would translate. While he wasn't my preferred selection I do kind of like Cam and think the suns really miss him right now.

Most of us knew Clarke would do well in the NBA. He was basically a more athletic Admunson with range. Those guys always find a way to get on the court with their hustle alone. I don't dislike Cam, but he really doesn't do much besides shoot threes. And when he is off, he seems fairly useless. We do miss him, even more so with the lack of size from injuries. We could have made better moves if we wanted to move back in the draft. Clearly OKC was willing to trade the pick that became Clarke. I am a bit surprised we couldn't have used Warren to get that pick.

I think the range thing was what teams questioned, he's got a weird looking shot and didn't take many 3s in college. It's great he's hitting them in the pros but it was no certain thing he would. Like I was saying I personally would have taken Washington over either Clarke or Cam he felt like an underrated prospect who I'm still not sure why he wasn't liked more in that poop draft. Hell I would have been fine taking Washington 6.

I think the thunder traded the pick because they knew Bazely was going to be there a couple picks later so got a free second rounder out of it. The ironic thing is I really believe the thunders top choice they hoped would be there at 21 was Cam, they've needed someone like him for like a decade.

Hard to not like a guy like Brandon Clarke. He has that x-factor in him. However, he benefits greatly from the attention Ja Morant attracts. I have a hard time envisioning him do well with Rubio with the way opposing team pack the paint, practically begging Rubio to take those uncontested midrange jumpers.

Cam is going to be fine in this league, if he's healthy. He's an elite shooter with a height advantage over most guard and is passable on D. He should have a productive career.

I think both will be fine, in this league.

Clarke looks so mechanical, certainly not a sigh of a star player, but at 11 would have been fine. CJ with the injury concerns, but that shot is beautiful, like 3PT shootout champion beautiful. You always can find a place on a team for such player.

I don't think he almost got hoodwinked. Once he found out Grunfield didn't realize there were two Brooks on the Grizzlies, and Memphis found out the same, and that we wanted Dillon and not Marshon, the trade fell dead.

So no one knew there were two Brooks not even the GM from the team they were on, is that the argument? Okay...bwahaha

I thought it was clear that Memphis tried to trade Marshon not Dillon, hence the trade wasn't completed.

GSW take another stab at Chriss. Good opportunity for Chiss to pad his missed dunks stat.

You took that way too literal.

According to Hollinger who was working for Memphis at the time, he said that Grunfield in Washington, was doing all the negotiating as the intermediary for both teams, so you can believe him if you want. I've always found him as a solid analyst.

Yeah, but knowing what you know now about both players... which would you have selected?

I think that all 30 GMs in the league value Clarke over Cam for now. EASILY. It is only their rookie season, but it's looking bad.

That's funny after all the 'we didn't sign him to trade him' talk this summer.

Watching the Grizzlies post trade deadline... I think they are a worse team. Crowder and Solomon Hill are gonna be missed. I think that the Blazers take their 8th spot.

Jayson Tatum is a different type of beast. I was wrong to think he’d only be a TJ Warren type player.
