An elite defensive team that is efficient at attacking the basket and mid-range and only takes wide open 3's would be a pretty damn good team. Everyone talks about modern basketball, like every team has to jack up 3's. The reality is being efficient on both ends is what is important. Collectively the team has to get way more aggressive going to the basket. It happened last year the second half of the season, and we were legit decent team at that point. Lets hope it happens again because this product is hard to watch.

are we elite defensively? or is our pace so slow that it adjust defensive numbers?

MCW takes charges.

I wanted to find a place to look up how many charges Vuc, Evan, and AG have taken each year but I couldn't find it. I've watched the Magic for their entire tenure and I can't remember a single charge taken by any of them.

Don't worry guys! James "Franchise Saving" Ennis will be here tomorrow against the Bucks! He's gonna score 30 in a game where we dismantle them on his back! Hope is not lost!

His 5ppg and "elite" 35% 3pt% are coming to save us! All hail King Ennis!

An interesting stat that I checked there since you kindly posted a link there were some clutch stats. Apparently, No.10 is 37th in "clutch" but shoots only 28% in the clutch this season. Fultz is 41st and shoots 54%. Sure, let's keep giving it to that bum.

No.10 is also 19th most likely to turn it over, Fultz is 47th.

Yeah. It's always been that way. Most players are rather underwhelming in 'clutch' situations. Kobe Bryant was always considered clutch, but he was actually very poor in those situations. People remember the makes and they forget the misses, so the players that are considered clutch are generally just the ones that take those shots most often.

With regards to the charges, they are probably a bit misleading. Fournier has never drawn charges before this season, but it's really just because he has upped his shrieking game. I think he learned this from Augustin. You'll notice that Fournier yelps whenever he wants a call. He does this frequently when he goes to the basket. He got just such a call last night where he wasn't actually fouled. It's a savvy veteran move. Anyway, this is how he is drawing offensive fouls as well. He isn't the sort to actually give up his body to draw a charge. Isaac and MCW are the best we have at that at present. Briscoe was great last year. Speights and Ilyasova were great at it as well.

Thanks! I was even on that site but couldn't figure it out.

LOL Vuc has taken 1 charge since 2016.
AG has taken 11 since 2016. 9 of them came 2016-2018.
Evan has also taken 11 since 2016.

Man I could go on a rant, but it’s not even worth it. All I know is that I’ll probably keep watching this team because I always have. But man it’s hard. I really don’t even enjoy it anymore but I guess I’m addicted.

What an awful team and more important, what an awful front office. They cannot truelly be happy with where we’re at? Fultz and JI are the only bright spots with one having no outside shot whatsoever and the other one looks to be a walking injury..

My goodness.. it really is a black day in magic history. And I’m a fan since 93. I’m ashamed..

It really is a drug isn't it? It's like a really bad car wreck, you just can't look away. At this point it's pure comedy for me. We really brought in a guy averaging 5ppg to come here and turn a 22-30 team into a contender. It's quite hilarious actually. I thought sleeping on it would make me feel better, but I honestly cannot believe the gall of our FO to bring in such a bench bum as their one and only move and expect us to be excited about it. James **** Ennis is this franchises savior. All this without mentioning the 4 year contract No.10 is about to get.

The belief that they are in good position to make the playoffs is prolly what lead to what, imo, was a lack of aggressiveness at the trade deadline... while sitting 7 games below .500 with 30 games remaining in the season.

Skiles quit on the team, what mentality is that?

It’s realist mentality.

Well it’s amazing to me that we basically have the same team as constructed by Henny.. honestly I own a business too, if I pay my manager big money for results, he better give it to me. The Fultz move I liked a lot, but we’re still not using him right because we’re holding on the old regime.. just wow

I’d still defend Skilles as he quickly realized he can’t win with Payton at pg but was forced by RH to play him.

I will never forgive him for forcing the Tobias for Jennings and Ilyasova trade. Even SVG publicly shamed us saying he was surprised he didn’t have to give up a 1st rd pick in that trade.

I decided to watch the ESPN games today as a change of pace from Magic games, watching Vic and Sabonis, the way they play, big solid screens, and then Ibaka on the other side of the court, the dude we traded them for, just compounded by current feelings about the Magic squad.

I hated the Vic move, and no one knows if he would of become the same player, but God it still stings. Let's be honest, if he was still here he'd probably be deferring to Vuc and Evan. Probably not a fluke both him and Tobias (who is hella overpaid btw) made huge leaps in the 2-3 seasons after leaving us
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

I'm still **** fuming about the fact that we lost 9 of our last 11 and the FO believed that we only needed to add one scrub that was getting dnp's on the Sixers and only averages 5ppg to turn it around. I mean, they can't be serious, right? It boggles my mind. I've never been this infuriated with this team in my life. I can't believe it.

Also, wanna point people to the schedule and look for yourselves to see how we could possibly win more than 35 games this year. It's not happening. 35 is the absolute max. We have some really tough teams still on the schedule. We've only won 5 games against teams over 500. and only 1 win against the top teams in general. That's seriously horrible.
