Injuries, trades give Celtics-Hawks whole new look

The Boston Celtics didn't make any moves before Thursday afternoon's trade deadline, but they still might have a different look to them as they host the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. The Celtics, winners of five straight and eight of nine, enter the contest with four of their five starters on the injury report.

The Hawks, meanwhile, have been among the more active teams in the NBA this week, acquiring centers Clint Capela and Dewayne Dedmon in separate deals...

It's tough to know what to expect for the Hawks, who have blown things up as they sport a 14-38 record. The team is building around Young and John Collins, who have combined to pace Atlanta in scoring in each of its last 12 games.

"Definitely a crazier night, at least day, when you look at our entire roster and what's happened in the last 24 hours," Collins said.

Not even sure if the new ones are available yet. I know Capela isn't.

I'm sure they are still kicking themselves after blowing the last game. Yes we were shorthanded, but close enough to steal one.

Hopefully Dedmon or Skal will be available tonight. If not, the front court will be extremely thin once again as Fernando is listed as doubtful for tonight.

Skal is out with knee injury until after AS break. Will be evaluated after break.

Okay I’ll say it...give Goodwin Teague’s minutes. Teague has very quickly reminded me of the issues I had with him on the tail end of his last run here. No aggression or purpose, Goodwin on the other hand is a dog. I won’t be hurt if we let Teague walk this summer, I’ve seen enough.

Agreed, Teague just looks lost out there sometimes. Definitely only resign him for the vet min if anything.
Goodwin reminds me of a younger JJ Barea.

As someone who wasn't a Hawks fan when Teague was here I can tell you through unbiased eyes that he's friggen terrible. I imagine he can be replaced by just about any NBA quality PG and it will be an improvement.

Goodwin can straight up ball as a backup point guard. No idea how he has gone unnoticed, but maybe it's just that he's been told here to play like his hair is on fire. I'm not one for overreacting to small sample sizes, but hand this kid a multi-year contract before the secret gets out on him. Pretty sure he'd sign a guaranteed 3yr/$5m contract right now and that's almost no risk for the Hawks if he remains any kind of capable.

Maybe Teague saw this post and it lit a fire under him to play better. 8 pts and 11 Assists so far tonight through only 16 minutes!
