Tatum is now just 0.1 ppg away from tying Kemba in points per game:

1. Kemba Walker - 22.0
2. Jayson Tatum - 21.9
3. Jaylen Brown - 20.3

Will be interesting to see whether Tatum or Kemba (or less likely, Jaylen) ends up as the team's leading scorer.

His TS% in the first 10 games was .498 and it's been climbing since. Season TS% at five game intervals since then: .511, .512, .516, .528, .527, .534, .541, .546

Jaylen Brown has to be the Most Improved Player this year. I don't know if I have ever seen a Celtic player make such a dramatic improvement year-over-year. He's just a joy to watch.

^ Agreed. I look forward to watching the Celtics now so I can watch Jaylen play. The last time I felt that way was Paul Pierce.

It's either him, Ingram, or Devonte Graham. All three could make compelling cases.

And he still looks like he isn’t playing as good as he can. Once the moves become more instinctual and automatic and once he is as strong as he will be.....this guy could be scary good. I think he has the potential to be better than peak Paul Pierce for a long time.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

That side step three off the dribble changes everything for him, and his upside. Defenders have to respect it, and it's no coincidence he suddenly gets to the rim almost at will.

Just wait until he starts actually knocking down his wide open threes off the catch again. Has had a fluke down year when it comes to those.

That aggressiveness and willing to step up at the end of the last game was amazing to see. We really have needed someone to do that other than Kemba for when he's off. I think the share the ball mentality and be less selfish has been fine tuned to a point now where we have our guys all getting theirs, 20+ pts per game, but I think we've seen again and again in crunch time this effect us when we desperately need a basket and we look too passive. So I hope that Tatum can build off of that.

In addition to that, I've noticed he's been getting more and more clutch putting up somewhat meaningless last minute shots per quarter, but that is great practice for when it matters. That's a very Paul Pierce-esque trait and more recently Butler/Kawhi trait.

These qualities will be a huge part of Tatum taking that next step.

Those numbers plus the defense are kind of reminiscent of Paul George imo

Well, he's got two full months to move up to #1. MAYBE EVEN HIGHER THAN THAT!

I haven't really followed along with the Rockets this year, but how is Westbrook ahead of Harden here?

LOL I didn't even notice. Author of article must have something against beards. James Harden literally leads the league in win shares, apart from several other offensive categories.

Its all handle with Jaylen. ( I know it’s not all he worked on) Major respect. Improving your handle is boring and I found it back breaking . He’s worked so hard on it, his head is up and he makes the right pass soooo much more because he’s ready to make it. Better handle should always equal better passing. I gotta think Tatum sees the difference it’s made. These two guys keep improving handle everything else will work out.

I’m enjoying seeing them driving to the basket with less offensive fouls. It was frustrating to watch over the past couple seasons. Now they are both reliable finishers especially Jaylen who missed several layups the last two seasons where now he’s turned it around completely.

Peak Pierce, for a 7 year period starting at 23 y/o was a 25/6.5/4 player. Tatum is getting as many shots as Pierce was then and he's putting up 22/7/3 at 21 y/o. There's some upside physically for Tatum and he's already a much better defender than Pierce ever was so I think he's already playing at Peak Pierce. I never thought Pierce was a top 15 player but I really think Tatum has a chance to be up around that 10-15 range, similar to a poor man's Paul George.

I think Cave said it in the post game thread but Tatum showed us today that he can be the number one option in this team. I know it’s only Atlanta but the kids only 21.

Tatum as #1 & Brown as #2 as our future excites me so damn much !

George wasn't as good in his third year. If Tatum keeps up the hard work, he could be better, but I've always said the comp is good for Tatum. George averaged 17/7.5/4 on .420 in his 3rd season.
Good assessment:

PLO wrote:Tatum played OK - took advantage of a few mismatches - decent on the defensive end. He is what we thought he was going into the season - a technically very proficient player operating close to his career ceiling as a rookie.
