Re: Winslow for Iggy
Hill and crowder showed some GnG dna. It would hurt a little bit if they go but I will move on very very quick. lol
Glad to see that child going away. Cant wait to watch Winslow in a grizz jersey. I hope he fits in the team.

Re: Winslow for Iggy
Mentioned it in the trade thread.
Winslow, for a player that wasn't never going to wear the uniform, is low risk, high reward. He's a very versatile player on both ends, nice insurance to Josh in free agency if he gets too pricey.
Brings me to the inclusion of Crowder & Hill. Are both included in this deal? because if they are, they are a combined 36m, that's Paul territory financially.
Iggy 17m, Hill 12m, Crowder 7m = 36m expiring.
Winslow 13m, Johnson 15m =28m Heat would have to send out another 10-12m one of (Olynyk, Waiters, Leonard)
Gallo is owed 22m -
Johnson 15m + Crowder 7m = 22m but then OKC would be taking on dead salary.
Hill 12m + one of (Olynyk, Leonard) = 23/4m expiring package, has OKC who's in the luxury tax taking on an additional 1-2m
Crowder 7m + one of (Olynyk, Leonard) = 19/20m expiring package, that sheds a couple mil getting OKC under the luxury tax.
With Memphis sending out 36m & only getting back 13m so far they need to at least take on 18m to be within 5m of regulation, 23m total to match
Winslow 13m + one of Olynyk/Leonard 12m = 25 of 36m heading out. I assume to get the value in trade, Memphis are taking on Waiters 12m with Winslow & one or their big men which will be used as a depth option.
Memphis trade - (Iggy, Hill, Crowder) for (Winslow, Olynyk, Waiters) take in 2 players with additional years to land Winslow (+?).
OKC trade - (Gallo) for (Crowder, Leonard) save roughly 3-4m while Heat loosen the restriction on their owed pick/s.
Heat trade - (Winslow, Olynyk, Waiters, Leonard) for (Iggy, Gallo)
Memphis net Winslow a backup C & sit Waiters. Not sure if there will be any additional incentive for taking on 24m for next season besides netting Winslow?.

I wouldn`t be too surprised if Waiters, if he is traded to Memphis, will bounce back very soon due to the magical chemistry in Memphis.

I'm good with this trade even though we may have lost on immediate value. Winslow could be our SF of the future and at worst all we lost was cap space in a very down year and a couple meh 2nds. Lost the battle to win the war.

We have received a 23y old SF, who essentially is an A level 3D-pointguard, without giving up ANY long-term asset. What can I comment on this trade... Let`s dance!

Johnson straight flip for DIeng. Memphis have their defensive backup big body who's shooting 38% from 3, 80% from the FT line.

He's a competent starting level defensive big buried behind Minnesota's franchise player.

Not just you, I've been reading plenty responses to these trades made. I don't think people yet realize fully what Memphis has accomplished at this trade deadline. Since Ja came back from his back injury for the last 26 games or so Memphis has had a top 5 offense. Where they were lacking despite finding the win column was on the defensive end. Both Dieng & a healthy Winslow go a long way to boost that defensive deficiency. Winslow is a far better on ball defender than Crowder, he'd be Jenkins main defender against players like Lebron, Paul, Kawhi etc..
I took this from the Heat board to help illustrate my point.
People question Winslow's offensive ability, fit. He's shooting 22% from 3 this season in 11 games where he shot 36% last year, while playing point. I don't know if these people realize it or not but Crowder was averaging 9pts on 36% shooting overall. Memphis weren't exactly getting ideal offensive production out of Crowder. What Winslow can also do that Crowder couldn't, is play point forward. This is important, why? because as good as Ja is, he's struggled with lengthy defenders with his slim frame, like Winslow in game 1 & Ball whenever Memphis has faced NO's. Having Winslow being able to handle PG duties helps Ja alleviate his ball pressure. Ja while better on ball, is capable at playing off ball, cutting & finding gaps, shooting 40% from 3. Just talking this has me excited to see these 2 playing off each other.
In landing Dieng, Memphis can legitimately matchup with LA's front court depth & versatility of Howard, McGee & Davis with Jonas, Dieng & 3J. Jonas has & can outplay Howard in the post. Dieng shooting 38% from 3 can stretch both McGee, Howard away from the rim, if Memphis have a defensive need with 3J not playing C. 3J while he's not as refined as Davis in his skillset, I think he matches up on a talent based comparison.
With Memphis now having the ability to throw any one of Winslow, Clarke & Josh on big wings like Lebron, Paul, Kawhi, Giannis. They have defensive options to slow down their opponents goto options as I illustrated above in the clip. Before Memphis needed Clarke at 4/5 with no depth behind Jonas but with Dieng in the fold, Memphis can put him on a big wing, if they need to. Winslow has the size & strength to guard anyone one on one 1-5 as I watched him play C against my Raptors taking them to 7 in a series Miami had no business being in with Whiteside injured & no real depth besides Winslow at C. Then you also have the defensive length of Josh & Anderson as depth options.
Lebron James is playing point for LA, what are they lacking? a secondary playmaker.
What happens if Memphis can continue to throw a healthy Winslow, Clarke, Josh on Lebron to pressure their primary ball handler?. Having so many options Jenkins can rotate his options to keep their legs fresh, while they wear down Lebron with pure hustle & effort.
Against LA, even as a rookie, I'm thinking with Ja & Tyus behind him, Memphis can expose that teams weakness. As I've mentioned, Memphis have a front court that can matchup depth & versatility wise. They have several options to guard big wings, where they can pressure Lebron at their point of attack, where that team is lacking secondary playmaking.
Memphis has Ja.

Massive props to WholeTruth on calling Dieng. I really like him as a potential backup C off the bench for us with Bell also around to offer versatility with our lineups. Dieng's shooting though with Anderson and the bench unit could be huge.
Ja/Brooks/Winslow/JJJ/JV is a great starting lineup for us when Winslow is healthy.
Tyus/Melton/Anderson/Clarke/Dieng has to be one of the better bench units in the league. Bell and Josh Jackson will also get some minutes and provide depth incase of injury. Allen is out for the year and Guduric hasn't look super great. All in all we have a solid young team.

Appreciate the shout out Vic but it's not necessary. I'm not here to stroke my ego. I love talking ball & it's fun to feel like you're a part of a building process, whether you are or aren't. Makes it more fun to root for the team.

Big Winslow fan here. Gutted we dumped him like this, but very glad he’s ended up in a favourable situation.
Get him healthy and he’ll be terrific for you guys. Big, defensive minded playmaking wing.

Memphis could have used him last night, young team & Morant got bullied in Philly.

3pt shooting, though he shot 36% last year with incremental improvements from his rookie season.

Dieng alone has already made this trade decent for the Grizzlies even if Winslow will never be able to reach my high expectations.
