Oubre for TPE + ????
Hello Phoenix fans, Warriors fan here with a question.
There had been a lot of talk amongst our ranks about who the dubs could target with the TPE they got from Iguadala, and Oubre has come up a lot.
Seems like he’s played well enough to not be a salary dump candidate, but curious what else you may demand. Could he be had for a couple of 2nds and the TPE? A protected Warriors 2021 pick? Or do you think the suns would demand even more?
Curious to get your thoughts to see how realistic this might be. There aren’t any wings available via the draft or FA, so they may have to go the trade route.

It’s a question. No offense should be taken.
Are we talking TPE plus a top 5 overall 2020 pick? Or TPE plus 2nd rounders. Just curious where his value is at.

There's no way we trade Oubre without an equal or close to equal talent coming back, he's pretty much one of the few real trade pieces we have left.

That would probably be closer 2020 1st. I assume they want a player that is ready to win now when Curry/Klay get back. However, the Suns are tired of draft picks and want players who can play now too. So I don't know that you have the type of player he'd be worth trading for (that you'd actually trade).

Cool. Appreciate the perspective. Warriors probably would only be able to offer picks due to TPE rules, so probably won’t work. Their 2020 pick would probably be off the table because it would be cost-controlled vs Oubre’s uncertainty. They might offer either theirs or Minnys 2021 tho.

I'm not seeing any return that would make sense. He's have a pretty good year, and his numbers keep steadily climbing here in the second half. He might end up at 20ppg n around 7rbs on decent %s. Gsw doesn't have enough scraps for that contract n player.

Re: Oubre for TPE + ????
Fun oubre fact, after last night he both has more total 3pts made and a better 3pt % on the season than Booker.
It wouldn't surprise me if Kelly's 3pt shooting continued to get better, he has good form and is long enough to shoot over damn near anyone.
It's his 5th season but should be remembered he was considered an extremely raw player entering the league.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

How about Oubre for your 2021 unprotected?

We will trade you our 1st rd or 2nd rd pick to take Oubre and you can’t give us back anything but just cap space. That’s how we do business here, ie see TJ Warren.
If you are not willing to take our 2nd rd pick then no deal.

I think you may overvalue our players if we are talking unprotected. Now I would agree in theory, but this is a surefire top 7 pick, and more likely top 4, with as good of chance as being #1 as anyone. Now will a player drafted there be as good as Oubre? Probably not, but it's possible. AND we'd have the guy for 8-9 years, the first 4 at a pretty cheap price.
Oubre, however, next summer, is going to demand a ton of money, and he likely won't be worth it. I don't know if someone else will pay it, but given that teams are hoarding cap space for 2021, those who miss out on big names might. So we could lose him, and I thought $15 was high, but it's fine for 2 years. I certainly wouldn't want to go much higher than that. Maybe like 4/70, but I imagine he will still want more, because, as Earl Watson knows, for NBA players, money is more important than family.
Having said all that, knowing Jones' philosophy, he's probably rather keep Oubre than trade him for a top 3 pick this year. Sure would be nice to get our PG and PF of the future though.

Who cares if that's unprotected. They will have Curry and Klay back next year and probably be a contender, but certainly a playoff team. It will probably be in the 20s. This year they will have a top 7 pick, but are on track for best odds to get the very top picks.

I would rather trade him then pay 31M. I would also accept the 2020 unprotected.

The 2020 pick would definitely be the one to grab. Warriors are gonna be good again next yr. If we trade KO it'd need to be a top 3 pick this year.

Kelly is going to get overpaid on the assumption he keeps improving because he’s still just 24. If he doesn’t improve, with the cap currently decreasing, it may get a bit Wigginsesque.
