Whatever happened to the random thoughts thread? Is there nowhere on this board where we can talk about Zion Williamson?

Such a blatantly unAmerican thing to do... So beyond unacceptable. What a f'n disgrace to the USA. It's to the point where Republicans who don't step up are beyond redemption.

Dude we passed this point such a long time ago that you don’t even realize it. This is the end of Democracy, but according to Susan Collins Trump has learned his lesson.
Now I wait for pop pop and daoneandonly to come and tell us that they only disagree with “temperament”

I don’t know what all this has to do with democracy. IMO as long as we have free elections and a free press we still have a democracy.
Trump can kick anyone out of the White House and has the right to do so as vindictive as his actions are. We can still vote him out.
The senate can have a sham impeachment trial and as long a they have 51 votes it’s their right. Vote them out.
However, I do see threats to our democracy. Some new and some around a long time, including:
Gerrymandering - especially now in light of the Supreme Court’s horrible decision.
Voter suppression - I wouldn’t be surprised if the SC is ok with that too.
Russian interference if encouraged by Trump.

Except there's news stories all over about how vulgar, hateful, and mean spirited Sanders supporters have been to anyone who opposes their views, yet that's conveniently left out here. Cause the left are pristine

We've had conversations about the behavior of some of Bernie's supporters.
"Bernie Bros" as they're called.
President Donald Trump referred to African countries, Haiti and El Salvador as "shithole" nations during a meeting Thursday and asked why the U.S. can't have more immigrants from Norway.

I see you dodged the question with some whataboutism. I don't care what your opinion is, because it's worthless, but the original question is, paraphrasing, what's your view on Trump blackmailing Ukraine's president into manufacturing fake dirt on his political opponent?

This has everything to do with Democracy. In a Democracy no one is above the law, not even the President. And Trump can’t fire whoever he wants when it’s an actual criminal act.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1513
18 U.S. Code § 1513. Retaliating against a witness, victim, or an informant
(e) Whoever knowingly, with the intent to retaliate, takes any action harmful to any person, including interference with the lawful employment or livelihood of any person, for providing to a law enforcement officer any truthful information relating to the commission or possible commission of any Federal offense, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 10 years, or both.
It took all of two days before he was back to committing crimes. This happens in dictatorships, not Democracies. Republicans have said that they’re fine with destroying all checks and balances as long as they maintain power. And the problem with saying vote him out is assuming he won’t rig the election, which he 100% will. Republicans have cheated before, will continue to cheat and will be brazen with it because they’ve signalled that there are no consequences. Democracy died the day that people voted 3rd party or stayed home to send a message.

He’s already said he doesn’t care. The only thing that gives him a boner is punishing women for exercising their bodily autonomy. Trump can rape, lie, cheat on his wives, pay for abortions and become the living embodiment of everything against the teachings of Christ and daoneandonly will continue to stick his head up his ass not because of his Christian beliefs but he hates Liberals.

Re: Political Roundtable Part XXVII
For the record, both Hitler and Stalin held elections *all the time.*
Also I find it hilarious that anyone can say we have a free press when Fox Lies dominates the "News" market. We are in a situation where a huge proportion of the country wants and demands lies that satisfy their hatred and fear. The network that supplies those lies to their willing consumers face absolutely zero consequences for lying.
The only difference between us and fascist Germany right now is real journalists are not being persecuted... oh wait...

I dont need to dodge anything, the question is irrelevant. There's not 1 person in the Democratic party who's morally superior to him, so what differencedoes it make? You dont have a better alternative.
And go for it Point. All the left have to deflect away from the fact that they support murdering innocent, precious little babies. The other side hate women and want to control them, yet ignore that we want the little girls being aborted to have a chance at life.
The Democrats dont know a thing about integrity and basic decency.

Let's see which D candidate is:
- a tax cheat?
- a philanderer?
- a probable rapist?
- a serial liar?
- accused child molester?
- draft dodger?
Well, he is doing the Christian right there work so there is that - of course there are those nasty unintended consequences.

Trump is President Monte there are no rules any more! Daoneandonly blindly supports a man that’s said and done much worse than anything I’ve ever done or said so he shouldn’t have any problem with my language.
I’ll tone it down or whatever but I find it pointless to start one policing once things have gotten so far off the rails.

Bill Clinton was the good majority of those things. Draft dodger? Yea that belongs in the same category as the other detestable things. The draft was a moronic idea, anyone who dodged it was right in doing so.
And why do you guys keep bringing religion into it? Only way of explaining why someone can bef so heartless in being pro choice?
And yea to your graph, we just cant recover from the miscreant Obama tenure, irs been downhill since

Going back to you quote:
...There's not 1 person in the Democratic party...
What you are really saying is that there was a Democrat who was 2 of 6 - and Obama was 0 of 6 like all of the current D POTUS candidates -- they aren't close to as bad as Trump.
And I bring that graph into play as the evangelists have been willing to hold their collective noses to get what they want. But it really isn't what they expected. They are now trusted ~ much as congress to do the right thing...

Rest assured Trump would likely be banned from RealGM with his first few posts.
It’s hard to exist in a country whose leader revels in his own blithering idiocy, pathological dishonesty, primitive contentiousness, ostentatious lack of knowledge, sociopathic lack of empathy, self absorption, fragility, pompousness, and general lack of self-awareness.
Harder still to watch legions of uncritical, adoring crowds—the only audience he can hear without whining—somehow miss the fact that he is not one of them. But for his billions and the things they buy, he is far, far worse in every way then the average American, and judging by the way Melania Trump flinches when he comes near, I am guessing he smells bad.
And he’s our leader. Pathetic.
But someone has to preserve civility, honesty, discourse, intellectual curiosity, broad mindedness, aesthetics, reason, knowledge, wisdom, virtue, and all the other qualities so abhorrent to Trump. Call it Fahrenheit 451: The Trump Years.
