For all the intense focus on ADs offense, how is he on defense? Could we use a defender of his ilk, who can also get you a bucket once in a blue moon?

Outside shooting is a parochial view of perimeter players, we're missing guys that can distribute, make a shot for themselves and get to the line at a high level. Jimmy can do that, but we only have one Jimmy- Our biggest problem. More than half of our key players can't play defense, second biggest problem. There's a great chance that we could enter the small field of contenders if we got an elite wing(s) that could help in those areas, versus a small chance that an inside presence would even move the needle for us. When was the last time a team led by a big was a contender?

AD will be our Chris Bosh with thicker eyebrows.

We'll sign Giannis as prime LeBron replacement, and we already have Jimmy in place for a little past prime Wade.

Pat Riley is a genies, that's all I got to say. Oof

I keep saying that we can add a fourth star player and still keep the young core together. After showing the numbers, I told everyone what would happen with Winslow. Draymond Green or Victor Oladipo fit well within the salary cap (we need a trade for this to work). If we can do it, Pat Riley knows that Giannis Antetokounmpo will sign with the Heat and Micky Arison is a great owner, always willing to pay for a good team.

Who's our 3rd star going to be JLop? Riley stated we'd attempt to improve this offseason or the next. I'd expect we'd attempt to court AD, but who else makes sense this offseason?

What a crush you have with Luka, my friend. However, he is an amazing player. Dayo, I don't see the Heat making free agency moves until 2021. Maybe we could request a meeting with Anthony Davis to convince him to join the Heat in 2021 when the numbers work or we could make temporary acquisitions, nothing important. But the trade market will be a completely different game for us. We already tested the waters with Oklahoma and can make use of another first round pick. I think we will work in a trade for someone like Oladipo or Draymond. Victor has not signed an extension with Indiana, we must pay close attention. Bam is a restricted free agent, it gives us the flexibility to make a sign-and-trade or a regular trade (or none, because he is a good player). In 2021, the value of Bam will be higher than Beals. In 2021, Joel Embiid will play the last year of his contract and it makes sense for Philadelphia to trade for Bam. In 2021, Rudy Gobert is a free agent and Utah will be happy to trade for Bam (a sign-and-trade). In the history of the Miami Heat, we never had so many options.

The Sixers need a leader, and Josh Richardson is seizing the role

He is only their fourth-leading scorer and had missed the previous six games before returning on Friday, but Josh Richardson has emerged as one of the main leaders on a 76ers team in dire need of leadership.

Earlier this season, after a New Year’s Eve 115-97 loss at Indiana, Richardson said he didn’t feel there was enough accountability in the locker room.

“I think that we got some new guys, who don’t want to step on toes, including myself," he said that day. "I feel like we kind of go play and don’t compete as much.”

That was quite a statement, and Richardson didn’t back off it. He didn’t mind stepping on toes, including his own.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday, when Richardson was the leader of a players-only meeting the Sixers held.

The meeting didn’t produce an immediate positive result, as the Sixers fell at Milwaulkee, suffering their fourth straight double-digit loss.

They talked about how they showed a better effort against the Bucks, who own the NBA’s top record. And while moral victories aren’t worth a lot in the NBA, the Sixers had played so poorly in their previous three road losses, being outscored by 62 points, that it was at least a step in the right direction.

Then the Sixers snapped their four-game losing streak with Friday’s 119-107 win over the visiting Memphis Grizzlies. The Sixers (32-21) host the Chicago Bulls on Sunday.

Is it a coincidence that Richardson returned to the lineup and the Sixers won on Friday? He had been out the previous six games with left hamstring tightness.

He didn’t have a big game against Memphis, scoring just four points in 14 minutes and 57 seconds off the bench. He was on a minutes restriction and made his biggest contribution in Wednesday’s players-only meeting at the team’s Camden practice facility.

Now in his fifth NBA season, Richardson was acquired over the summer in the sign-and-trade deal with the Miami Heat involving Jimmy Butler.

A second-round draft pick in 2015 out of Tennessee, Richardson is averaging 14.7 points and is among the team’s best defensive players, although he has missed 14 games because of injuries.

Still, it hasn’t stopped him from getting the team together after they lost three road games, 127-117 at Atlanta, 116-95 at Boston and then the 137-106 debacle at Miami.

Even though he didn’t play in those games, Richardson felt it was necessary to get the team together.

“It’s a sign of growth from him that we have people, we care, we want to win, we want to do things the right way and Josh took great initiative,” said Al Horford, a five-time all-star now in his 13th season. “Our group, we are all in this together and we are just trying to figure this out.”

Richardson said he felt the meeting was something that was needed.

“We sat down and talked stuff out and it was good for us to get stuff out,” Richardson said after Friday’s win.

While a lot of what was discussed during the meeting wasn’t disclosed, one message from Richardson concerned what the Sixers had to do to improve on the road, where they’re 9-19 this season.

They are 23-2 at home.

“I think we have to be more vocal,” Richardson said when explaining the disparity in the home and away records. “The best teams are talking out on the court and they are all one [team].”

It’s interesting how, on a team with three-time all-star center Joel Embiid and two-time all-star point guard Ben Simmons — not to mention Horford and ninth-year veteran Tobias Harris — that Richardson has emerged as a leader.

Minny 142 LAC 115

“Ten Timberwolves players hit 3s, setting a franchise record. Beasley made a career-high seven 3s. Seven Minnesota players scored in double figures, including all five starters.

"When the new guys got into the locker room, they brought a lot of energy," McLaughlin said. "As you could tell, it carried over today."

The Wolves were 15-25 from 3pt in the first half and took a 81-59 lead into halftime. The 81 points were a franchise record for points in a half and the most allowed by the Clippers in a half this season.”

26 3pt made - nba record

KAT 22/13/9/1
Hernangomez 14/3
McLaughlin 24/11/4
Josh Okogie 15/2/2
Malik “SuperCool” Beas 23/10/4/1 7-13 3pt
J Johnson 15/3/5/2/1
Naz Reid 14/9

and no DLo.

JJ ball handling and distributor role became less and less of a need with bam evolution as a ball handler and distributor. Kat needs a ball handler, defender and distributor on the court with him. The same with dlo. Kat and dlo are scorers/shooters first. JJ allows them to be more of the best of them selves. The wolves didn't let JJ bring the ball up court but in the half court u can see jj swing and moving the ball to others and it gets contagious. He will promote the right style of play for dlo and kat.

Unless I'm completely mistaken about the D'Antoni small-ball experiment, looking at the Rockets' remaining schedule I'd be surprised to see them winning 7 more games max until the end of the season.

Portland with Nurkic back, is going to be one of the hardest 7th/8th seeds in memory to knock off.
