The James Johnson Thread

Post#1 » by King Malta » Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:06 am

I reckon JJ deserves a thread, especially after last night.

Wasn't quite sure what we were getting with JJ, was super impressed with him vs the Clips though. Seems like he'll be able to add a semi-reliable 3 point shooter, some point forward ability, help defense and legit toughness to a team that needs all of the above. Was sad to lose Gorgui (particularly on a human level) but it seems like JJ will be a much better fit next to KAT, which opens up some different rotation options for us.

Will be great to have an 'enforcer' of sorts to take care of the new litter of Timberpups too

I'm hoping after he retires from the NBA, he goes full time MMA. It would be pretty fun rooting for him in the UFC heavyweight division.

Not sure about his butter fingers drive to the basket, but everything else was on point. Really interesting player because he is a big forward but he could initiate and keep things moving in intelligent way. Not to mention the obvious toughness, defense and leadership/hypeman role he is already taking on.

He had a lot of energy on the bench which was a huge plus. There were a handful of plays where he was the most excited and it's contagious.

He's been making me think about how funny trades are too. A week ago if you suggested just a straight swap of him and Dieng with no assets coming back I'd think you're dumb. Now that the trade happened though it totally makes sense and he's even a good fit as a starter and could help the team a decent amount.
Rest in peace Mamba. There'll never be another Kobe.

Yeah that was super encouraging.

Given his involvement with pretty competitive teams the last few years I wasn't sure what his demeanor would be like upon being traded to a rebuilding team like Minnesota. But he seemed to be having some fun and enjoying himself, the 'ice in my veins' celebration after he nailed a three was a pearler too.
