When I lived in BOS I saw some stuff obviously, but I never saw anything Celtics when living in either STL or MIL. The Celtics are basically the STL Cardinals of the NBA.

PHI would be a MUCH, MUCH bigger National draw than BOS

 Not even remotely true. The Celtics have a top 5 following in the world, the Sixers aren't even close. I think most people would agree the Celtics are a top 5 most popular franchise. The Cardinals are great in St. Louis but outside of it don't have that kind of following even with 11 World Series rings.

They have such a big following that I have never seen anyone wearing any of their clothing outside of BOS despite having lived in multiple large US cities. Must be quite the following !!! Heck, I saw more Chris Cooley Washington Redskins jerseys being worn when I was in STL than I saw all Celtics gear combined.

I would bet the average person off the street couldn't name even 1 Celtics player.

I haven't seen Space in person either, it must not be true despite what the facts say.

The Celtics wouldn't be worth what their brand is worth if they weren't popular outside of New England. They're an iconic franchise, they're one of the 5 most popular teams in China, and they actually do have a good road following being #2 in road attendance this year and really at least generally being a top draw in years when they've been good. They aren't the Lakers but there's only one Lakers in the NBA and no other franchise is close to that sort of support given how large their fan base is. Just my thoughts.

Jayson Tatum is number 4 in jersey sales in the league, and the Celtics are number 2 in merchandise sales.

All you have are anecdotes.

Not particularly concerned about the ratings. The best Finals would be either of the LA teams (with their superstar duos) taking on the emerging juggernaut in Milwaukee led by the next face of the league after LeBron retires.

Living in LA I think Celtic gear is probably the 2nd most I see around after Golden State (Not including the Lakers or Clips).

The flaw is that you are using data that does not have to do with the conversation.

Having high jersey sales and high merchandise sales doesn't show that people outside BOS would tune in to watch them. It is very possible that BOS fans just buy more Merchandise than other fan bases.

-China is meaningless in this conversation about US ratings since I am pretty sure Chins is not included in Nielsen ratings, similar to how the TOR market doesn't count.

-How have the Celtics done on TV this year outside of the BOS market? To start off the year Bucks-Rockets drew a bigger number than Celtics-76ers.

On Christmas- Bucks -76ers outdrew Celtics-Raptors.

**The Bucks look like a bigger TV draw than BOS this year

bucks were by far the best team in the league, 76ers fell a lot since then. next raptors celtics meeting will do good.

There’s nothing going on exciting in the east, and half the country is asleep when game 2 of national TV games are on in the west coast. It’s a problem, and LeBron in LA made it worse

Lakers-Celtics finals would be a major ratings boost.

Clippers-Milwaukee? Who is going to watch that? Just family.

This simply isnt true. The celtics have one of the top followings in sports. I live in ohio and its likelier to find people in celtics green than cavs apparel. I've been to a third of the NBA arenas and except for a huge exception it's a see of green in the crowd. I was just I'm orlando and there was an audible let's go Celtics chant breaking out lol

Lakers Celtics is what all the non-Laker/Celtic fans WANT and NEED! They're all clamoring for the history and the storylines and the romance. No one wants no Clippers - Bucks. Snoozefest.

Raps fans and Bucks fans even want Celtics - Lakers.

Agree it would be beautiful. All that history and Lebron vs. the Celtics is a huge story too. Passionate TD Garden crowd chanting "BEAT LA".

From up above, Kobe would be smiling and fist pumping over Lakers/Celtics.

Really would love it. I know it's not as likely for the Celtics to get there before the endless bashing begins of these fantastic hard working guys in green.

Nobody in Celtics land is saying the Celtics would win, we are underdogs in the east too. But Prok must have forgotten the Celtics blew out the Lakers on MLK day in Boston with their full lineup in tact. Ironically a few days later the Nets with Kyrie got beaten down pretty good by the Lakers in Brooklyn.

People complain about the Warriors and Cavs making the Finals so many years, and now they want to bring back the same two teams who have been making the Finals for decades?

Nah.

It’s all about stars. Lakers in the Finals would increase ratings but only because it’s LeBron.

Lakers vs Milwaukee would be better. Milwaukee is a small market, but people would love to see LeBron vs Giannis. Star power. Kemba, Tatum and Brown don’t have that type of star power however it would be nice to see them win a championship.

I know he isnt Giannis but to say tatum doesnt have star power is absurd.

We have Tacko Fall on the roster. Not even Lebron or Giannis could inspire grown men to wear actual taco costumes to a game like he can.
