Let's get Tyler Johnson and not Dion Waiters.

I rather have JR than them all to be honest because he has the ability to score, he can defend the actual swing man spot, and he has range. He also knows actual playoff games and finals games feel like. People remember the bad and it was bad, but he had a lot of good playoff moments too on both ends in his career.

I think I would even take Lance back because he knows the team, the city, the coach, and caused no problem last year

People seem to forget that JR Smith actually won a championship with LeBron. He's battle tested. Yeah, he had one mess up but that cost them the game, not the series.

I follow Dion waiters closely as I also follow the heat..Dion waiters has it in his head that he has to start games. He was suspended from the heat before the start of the season because he was upset a rookie started over him. He's always had that issue where he cared about mins,shots and doesn't worry about playing basketball.

It's a 50-50 situation. His career is hanging on by a thread. Does he know this and gets his **** together and accepts his role? Or is he going to complain about not starting , not getting enough mins, etc?

Jr Smith seems the safer bet, but also haven't seen him in a year or so. Can he still produce?

I think he can personally but it's a question pelinka has to ask himself.

Are the Lakers' front office that desperate to sign such a controversial guy? Come on, we are the #1 seed in the West, if we were fighting for the 8th seed as we did last season it would make sense, but now it doesn't.

They're no 1 seed because they beat up on very bad teams, something like 27 wins and 2 losses? while they are win-less against very good teams like the Clippers, Boston, Sixers, Bucks etc.
They are no. 1 bec this team is very reliant on an aging 35 yr old and an injury prone superstar who play 5 36 mins/game, about 5-7 minutes more than Luka and Giannis per game.
They have the best record in the West bec the Clips are sitting their superstars like 18+ games while only behind by 4 losses.

i know the argument around here is just that, and i get it, bc it feels good to see that argument.
But i agree w you. We need to do something soon in the buyout market.

the argument is akin to someone looking at the mirror and saying "look , i still got abs, my arms arent flabby, and i still weight 170 lbs" but you cant see all the potential destruction that will soon surface from the liver and blood if the bad diet is not changed soon.

This obviously sucks considering our lack of deadline moves and weakness at the position. Of course last year Collison would be the best point guard we have....and even a worse version would definitely contribute in this team.


That said, this isn’t the end of the world and there are some pros that come with this:


1. The lakers have veterans on 1-2 year deals in those spots, and atleast some of them atleast believe that they left money on the table. The FO should obviously do what’s best for the team, but the fact that we don’t need to be worried about chemistry issues or pouty rondo has its benefits.

2.we don’t know what version of Collison would come back, and while a lesser version would still be a rotation player on this team, for him to come out of retirement would mean the possibility that he would be unhappy or feel entitled to big minutes and a starting spot.



For this laker team, chemistry and moral are very important. Obviously if you can improve glaring weaknesses you have to do it, even if it risks hurting chemistry and morale, but at the end of the day, there are some benefits to our mojo not getting disturbed.



I believe that the laker team as it stands can win the championship, roster wise . We obviously need to improve to beat the clippers and bucks and have legitimate concerns, but this improvement doesn’t need to come via a signing or a trade. It can happen internally. PG will continue to be a huge weakness with this team and I’m not under the false belief that our internal pieces can somehow improve and make that weakness invalid. However, I’m simply saying that we haven’t played to our full potential yet outside of the pg position and our point guard situation will not make or break this team.

As a player for several years, he knew the demands and what is expected, he knew his priorities so the question is why come and meet Jeannie and company in the first place? The question is was he offended in any way? Was he turned off by what he saw from the team, how they play, the drama perhaps?

He just wanted some attention. He retired for God. And wanted some more press about that.

But he didn't just waste Jeannie's and her staff's time but his own time, having to drive through LA traffic etc and staying in playing condition etc. He watched the Houston game when the Lakers struggled and lost. Something made him decide no, I'm not playing for this team.. What are his reasons?
