Why would there be an asterisk?
because it would be short lived because of injuries and clashing ego's.right now riley is sticking with a team that is working (the record is a testament of that) why destroy that for 1 run at a championship with an asterisk? we already had our lesson with bosh's illness.the last thing that this team needs is to have another long term injured star which could cost them alot of money to shed.

nope nope nope,i'd rather get the more durable greek freak 8-)

Good post, AirP. You don't have to embellish what Jojo does to me though. Once again, he's a certifiable stud from my perspective. This new era of shooting the three has gotten fans retahded on what wins games. Dudes saying this player can't shoot threes, the spacing would disappear, oh my goodness the tragedy....Put Embiid down low and let him dunk over everyone else and shoot 20 free throws a game. He's a badass being misused.

However, Bam is a Heatle through and through. He was overlooked. He was drafted and chit on by Heat fans. He was 2nd on the depth chart behind empty stats boy, Hassan. What a loser, right? Nope. He's the MIP this year if you're a sane voter. He's critical to everything the Heat does on O and D. Boy exudes Heatness. That means something to me. He didn't give up. He got better. He will get better. He'll champion our team and culture. I'm in love with that. Let it ride.

Clash egos? Embiid has a lot of the same personality as Butler has and that trade seemed to work out great for Miami. The guy wants to win, he was in tears last year when they got knocked out the playoffs.

At worst for the Bucks, Giannis will sign the max and after the year he can't be moved he'll ask to be traded. I really don't get this idea of getting him for cap space, this isn't LeBron who was good friends with Wade and conspired to do this. Even if he were a free agent, people act as if Milwaukee wouldn't be open to doing a sign and trade with him to get some compensation back while allowing Giannis to pick what team he's wanting to go to THAT MAY NOT HAVE THE CAP SPACE, for instance, Golden State, LA or if Dolan sells... New York.

Wasn't Butler supposed to be 6'7" and Wade 6'3"?

Tyler Herro out of the Rising stars game. Bummer. Might as well pull KNunn out and let the Achilles rest too, but I'm sure he'd wanna play since it's gonna be at the crib.

Throughout his career, he has proven he can play through pain and rarely complained about extended minutes. So it was no surprise Butler was on the court Monday against the Golden State Warriors after missing the previous two games because of shoulder soreness.

"Was he 100 percent? No," Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. "But you know how much that meant to everyone in the locker room that he was going to go out there just to prove to everybody how important these last two games were. He's just been doing around the clock treatment."

"We look like a totally different team when our max player is out there," Spoelstra said. "He makes it look a little bit smoother, a little bit more settled with our offense. The ball gets to the right places. He finds a way to get to the free throw line, all these things that are necessary when you want to win on the road ... It's great to have him back out there."

Yeah, it's hard to find a picture where their legs aren't bent since that can change the look of their sizes. Need them standing straight and even then it's tough, you basically have to look where their feet start to the top of their head.

AirP,

I look at shoulder height only. Wish it was how players were measured. Not going to change the world, but logically is the best indicator.

Also, how about arm length versus wingspan. Some players have wide shoulders and short arms. Some have narrow shoulders and long arms. Big difference.

I get that, in a lot of pictures I see Butler's shoulders what I think is only 1-2 inches higher. I watched nearly that whole year of Butler and Wade in Chicago and at no time did I think they were close to the same size nor could they guard the same types of players.

I've met Wade in person several times. He isn't 6'4", lol! 6'3" is pushing it (his hands are enormous though). I haven't met Jimmy yet. I'll let you all know who's taller when I do.

On the hand topic; I will never shake Kawhi's hand. Omg. Hands should not be that large on a human.

Something odd keeps popping up listening to Spoelstra this year in regards to Jimmy Butler, especially this far in the season. The use of max player when describing Jimmy Butler. Through the years I've heard coaches utilize calling a player as a max player when they're underperforming and wanting more from them but this is different and it's why I believe is why Butler is in Miami, it's getting back to Miami's culture and putting out there what they value and it's exactly what Butler's been searching for, an organization who REWARDS winning basketball and not just potential. I think it was very important for Butler to get a max contract from an organization as proof of their dedication to winning basketball and that's why I think Spoelstra keeps saying max player over and over.

I believe Butler when he says he's about winning and doesn't really care about the money, I do believe he cares about the max label because of what it means about the organization's values and their respect towards Butler which at this point is way more than the money(which he was set for life already before this contract) to Butler.

Embiid is great and all - but considering all factors ; Age, health, contract, asking price in a trade, playing style - I would be against trading for him. (and losing Bam + more pieces)

Bam is younger, with room to improve, healthier. And he's our guy in every conceivable way.

I'm really not sure we should trade any of our core guys right now.

Herro,
Duncan
jimmy
Bam

can fit really well going forward. if we could add another high level 2 way scorer (Victor Oladipo?) - it might make us contenders even if we miss out on Giannis.

Bradly Beal is another one, but we can't afford to lose core guys for him. Could do Future picks.
