Yes. That team that is a full 10.0 games ahead of us in the standings is a failure. They are pathetic.

Philly has been 3rd seed the last 2 years and a playoff team this year.

I'd argue they're in a weird position BECAUSE they didn't stay The Process, they went super all in and made a lot of moves they didn't have to make.

I think their problem has been Simmons at PG and refusing to shoot in general. They'd still be in a great spot if Simmons stopped being a coward, quite frankly.

Either that, or trade him for a Beal type player to work with Embiid.

Didn't they trade two lottery picks for Fultz? Then trade assets for Harris and gave him all that money.

I alway felt like when Harris was here he was and empty stat guy. Funny how many 76er fans wanted to trade him already. I think they're stuck with that contract.

No, taking for more than 4 years is simply unsustainable.
You can't develop players and in same time keep team on >30 wins.

After 4 years tanking becomes expesnive and impossible to maintain.

Embiid -2014 draft- signed max in 2019
Simmons- 2016 draft- signed max, starting next season.

2020-21 season and $70 M of salary is tied into Simmons and Embiid. So if they in between drafted another star and signed on max ( for example in 2015 ), they would pay 3 guys over $100 000 000

And they would still need players that aren't worthless.

In April of 2023 ( three years from now ) Embiid is UFA.

So in apsolute perfect world tanking goes like this:
3 years 3 stars- 6 years of develment and only 2 realistic years of champinoship window, before "oldest" ( one you drafted first) isn't gone in unrestricted free agency. (since nobody really stays after 8 years , Curry and Haslem are only active players who stayed with same team for 10 years).

76ers have good roster. They will be really hard to beat in playoffs ( last year they lost to championship winner in game 7 buzzerbeater...). But Horford shows signs of age and overlaps with Embiid.

Didn't say keep the tank, said "The Process"... just mean not ship out players like Covington, maybe not make the move for Butler, Horford, could've actually been patient with Fultz (despite media saying they had no time to develop him -- why not?), let good shooters go around them.

They went from bad team to 50 wins in a matter of a year and then started going all in and panicking like they had a team full of Paul Pierce and KG and messed with the chemistry and decided all of a sudden "no development" when letting things happen organically was the right move.

They were in a great spot with young guys that actually were competing in the East and went all crazy for no reason.

Butler would have been huge for them if he wanted to stay.
Fultz would never work for them.

Him and Simmons can't co-exsist and it's not really close who is better. They will once again win 50 games.

Ben Simmons is pretty much taking role of best 76ers player tho

Guy was guarded whole night by both George and Kawhi and just went at them

Sucks so hard he is so afraid to shoot.

By all stats he is also best guard defender out there today.

For most of the time I agree that tanking doesn't work. Hardly ever you'll pull a Spurs Duncan draft. Even if there is a consensus number 1 pick you only have 14% chance of getting him if you tank hard nowadays.

But... since we tanked in 2017/18 season, we should have done a better job trying to land in the top 3. If we had Doncic/Trae/Ayton we would be much better than we are right now.

I still have some hope on Bamba, but it's sad we missed on Trae. I was on the draft Doncic bandwagon and I thought Trae would be a bust, but management was high on him, so I would be happly eating crow right now.

Philly did fare share of stinkers that can't be overlooked.
moving to 1# pick to get Fultz instad of just taking Tatum was stupid as hell back then, in retrospective, it's sutpid, idiotic and moronic.

Jah Okafor was another stinker.
Michael Carter Williams another.
Noel sucked with them too.

But Butler for Saric and Covington was clear- win trade for them.
Just like Tobias Harris for Shamet, Muscala and Chandler was.
They also won MCW trade and sold him at peak of his value and flipped Mikal Bridges to i belive UNPROTECTED Suns 2021 first round pick. ( if they didn't trade him later, not 100% sure ).

It's funny that both trades for and to move Fultz were bad for them

Horford's contract is bad one, but at least it scales down, this summer he will be 33-34 years old. He might be used as big trade chip if they find right suitor ( Hayward for Horford ,but i highly dobut since they are rivals ).

I'm not convinced Tobias Harris makes any team better. Just another empty stat guy.

Frankly, the Sixers issue is the fact they got impatient and made a series of trades to move their window forward when they really didn’t have to do that.

It’s legitimately debatable that the Sixers would be better off right now had they not made the Butler or Harris trades.

Like when the Magic traded Oladipo and Sabonis for Ibaka.

difference is that Philly won 50 games first with established 2 elite players.
Magic tried to cheat their way into playoffs.

Kyrie Irving reinjured his shoulder and will miss more time. Gives us a better chance to catch them.

I think I'd rather just play the Bucks than the Raps. We won't win versus either but I'm tired of Toronto.
