Golden State Warriors Win The Draft Lottery And Trade For Joel Embiid...

Post#1 » by NYG » Thu Feb 13, 2020 3:56 am

Philadelphia 76ers get:
Andrew Wiggins
1st Overall Draft Pick
2021 Top 3 Protected Minnesota Timberwolves First Round Draft Pick
2022 Unprotected Golden State Warriors First Round Draft Pick

Golden State Warriors get:
Joel Embiid

The 76ers re-adjust their roster a bit to build around Ben Simmons and gains valuable draft capital for the next star available via trade that fits better than Embiid.

The Warriors capitalize on their earlier than expected pick and take a huge risk by going all in on the Splash Bro's timeline and adding Embiid to the mix.

Kinda giving up 1 of the better players in the league for 1 of the worst. Would have to add so much more and no wiggins I think

This doesn't make any sense for Philly. This is not at all the direction they would ever take.

If they get the first overall pick and want a Cerner why not just pick Wiseman and move on or trade back and take oturu and get another piece or two. Makes no sense to trade for embid when there are two pretty good big men in this draft and you have a top pick .

We would just take Wiseman and keep that large list of great assets.

Id gamble GS can hit the right lottery guys.
Plus that Wiggins can improve on D/ efficiency

2022 GS will have a max salary slot with a trade of Wiggins and 34 yo Curry playing for MLE

Count me as a Warriors fan who would absolutely do this deal, no hesitation.

Embiid is a top 10-15 player in the league, he’s young, and pairing him with two elite 3pt shooters could send his game to new heights.

The odds are poor that Wiseman is ever even 75% of the player Embiid already is, and an “unprotected” GS pick with Steph, Klay, Draymond, and Embiid all under contract will be 25+

I think I’d rather draft Wiseman and keep the other assets then trade all that for a center who misses about 20 games a year. It’s early, but Wiggins has been playing well for the Warriors so far, shooting more efficiently and playing good defense.

This most likely Wiggins, the first overall, a mid-to-low lottery, and a late FRP for Embiid. And not the direction the Sixers want.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

They should keep Wiseman or go after Turner (while keeping or acquiring additional assets) and not clear the cupboard clean (which still isn’t enough value for Embiid)!

I'm sorry but considering Steph's age(even without considering it) the Warriors would be crazy to wait and hope and pray that someday Wiseman is pretty good if they really had a chance to turn dead weight into Embiid.

Why in the world would you prefer setting up to be mediocre as opposed to dreadful post-Curry rather than trying to win a couple more titles with Curry?

Of course Philly laughs really hard at this, but Golden State turning this down is not a real thing that would ever happen.

Warriors need a new Bogut, a new Andre and a new Livingston.

A lesser C will do you need the other assets to get the wings.

Embiid would be a monster in GS, but I just don't see the sixers trading him with how much money they have tied up in the roster. Someone like Myles Turner is more likely, but they'd need a 3rd team.

Apart from what Texas Chuck said, GSW fans, please stop with the narrative that Wiggins is suddenly not an awful player just because he's on the Warriors.

I hated the trade, but if the Warriors turn him into a solid role player, then he's all of a sudden not an awful player.

You can't compare Minnesota's losing culture to that of the Warriors.

How did the Warriors culture improve Russell?
