NBA All-Star Weekend Chicago 2020

Post#1 » by PaKii94 » Thu Feb 13, 2020 7:54 pm

I thought we should start an all-star weekend discussion thread. Regardless of the discussion on Zach being an all-star, I am excited to see him in the 3 point contest. Zach when he gets hot can get HOT. I do think a focused Zach can win the contest. Also, the guy who he's compared to most, Booker, was selected to replace Lillard in the all-star game AND the 3 point contest. I can see that being extra motivation.

Can someone recommend all-star related activities I can attend for free/cheap during the all-star weekend? Also, I know I haven't been around for a while, but why is the one all-star thread that exists only PaKii driving the bus and nobody on it?

Interest is low because the regular fan is priced out at almost a grand for a cheap seat with almost no Bulls representation

Charles Barkley is friends with Boylen? That's surprising. Pippen **** on the Bulls has to sting the FO a bit. It's hard to get excited about this without any real all-star representation. I'm glad Zach's in the three-point contest, but I'm bummed out he's not in the dunk contest.

That’s a big reason the festivities haven’t been in Chicago for so long. The NBA has pushed for Allstar weekend in Chicago for a long time, but Jerry didn’t like that season ticket holders and Bulls fans in general wouldn’t really be able to attend because the NBA basically takes control of everything and locals are pretty much s.o.l.

It’s still good to have though. It brings extra business to the area and the extended time in a city can leave an impression on players and execs. The city gets an opportunity to sell itself without the Bulls screwing it up.

They were in Houston together and likely had a relationship due to that shared experience. Probably easier to like the guy when Rudy T was in charge.

Man you guys had almost convinced me Boylen was garbage, but Chuck def pulled me back in lol. Especially since he trashed the players at the same time. If Chuck volunteers that he's good friends with him how bad can he be? Charles is probably the dopest guy in the world lol.

Yeah it’s crazy. We got tickets for a customer and we know the season ticket a gent for the Bulls. He had no pull whatsoever. It is a NBA event through and through the venue and city bows down to the NBA. Which is fine but it isn’t really an honor to host it imho. It is more of an unlucky lottery.

I took Barkley's comments as saying he would trash him if he didn't have a personal relationship, he didn't defend Boylen at all.

Anyone know where the players are staying? What clubs/restaurants to hit up? Not terribly interested in going to navy pier. Wish I knew the TNT crew was at HoB tonight. I wanna see the players. Bought tickets to the practice Saturday which might help get my fix. Can’t justify paying for either Saturday night or Sunday’s game tbh

I noticed in that video with Pippen, he was waving his hands to get the guy yelling fire gar/pax to keep chanting. Nice. I have no idea why all these media guys protect Pax so much, even when they say the front office needs a overhaul they suggest moving Paxson into another job in the organization. What has Pax ever done to get the respect he gets from Chicago media, meanwhile if it's the Bears or Cubs the media wastes no time calling for the front offices jobs.
