I dn't have time ATM to look up each player's playoff history, but let's say each player gets:

1 point for first round playoff exit
2 points for second round playoff exit
3 points for Confernce Finals loss
4 points for Finals loss
5 points for Finals win

Who wins on points?

Why would you give any points for a first round playoff exit. You should subtract points for that.

Zero points for not making the playoffs. Getting a team there and/or a winning record should count for something. Otherwise, you're saying the 82 games of the regular season means squat.

Let’s be honest, if Lebron played in the West, he’d max out at 5 finals appearances and that’s being generous

That's straight up not true. In 91 and 98 the Lakers and Jazz were the favorites to win it all. In 93 it was a toss up at with a lot of people thinking the Suns were the better team over the back-to-back champs.

Reminder: Russell is 11- Kareem is 6-4, MJ's only 6-0.

Surprisingly, basketball didn't begin in the 90's. This feels relevant, considering that outside of his team's achievements, he's just Lebron without the sustained excellence.

You’re right. Kareem and Russell are better than Lebron

all the arguments have been stated.
there's only just a repackaging of the arguments.

but to your point,,,that's why neither mj nor lebron are the goats. but there's no point in quibbling, i'm okay with mj because the true greats have anointed him as the goat among them so who am i to argue. this is like foreman versus ali. and like foreman, lebron is just big and scary.

I think Heinsohn played in Russell's sprained-ankle Finals loss, as did Cousy and Sharman. Havlicek, however, really was 8-0, with some of those wins having come as the best player on the team.

I do think Heinsohn set the NBA record for number of seasons played without ever missing the Finals, at 9.

WHy do final runs need to be erased. Though I'd understand why you wouldn't want to consider sustained excellence, seeing that it basically nukes any argument jordan has for GOAT

I feel you, what I was tryna get outta this topic was a real one to one with a die hard jordan fan with no emotion/nostalgia and just facts/stats why they came to their conclusion. I Definitely could’ve scrolled through the board and what not but I felt for rebuttals and open conversation it would’ve been better for me to just create a post.

You can’t be the Goat and lose most of your finals, especially when you chickened out on your team to go play with your friends.

Jordon would NEVER, I mean NEVER go play with other players on another team.

Lebron can be 2nd and remove Kareem but he cemented his legacy

2011 erased ? Cause lebron lost in 6 to a team hitting on ALL cylinders. Swept the defending back2back champion lakers, beat the spurs ? Beat okc in 5? Give them props but takes nothing away from lebron

Dude literally won the olympics by a record margin, won b2b with a school that had never even made the ncaa, and topped it off by taking an average offense to the greatest dynasty ever.

All while fighting racism and breaking barriers for people of color everywhere. Jordan got shoe deals tho.
