I don't see why anyone outside of Sixers fans would not be excited about him considering the price ans his potential. I know why from Pepe because he never believed him or his agent. But in terms of his game, I personally couldn't wait to see what he could do. He's definitely delivering so far.
Well, he is and he isn't. He shows so much as a great transition player and driver to the rim that you could almost envision reshaping the team around him to be a high-paced "transition plus defense" gamestyle. Not to say I would, just that he's been so encouraging as a distributor, driver and all round high energy guy that some coached might see that path being open.
But, on the other hand, his 3pt shooting is woeful. His recent stroke looks almost slower and even further out from his body than it started out. He's not only hitting a paltry 27% from 3, he's also giving up a ton of open looks which lead inevitably to lower likelihood shots for others.
Projecting a league-average 3-pt shot onto him at this point is very ambitious. On the plus side, he's a known hard worker and self-confident guy. On the downside, he has the residual effects of TOS which has presumably created this clunky shooting stroke, 2 seasons in the NBA where there's not much upward trend in his shooting, whether he had yips or trouble dealing with the pressure of shooting also is conjecture.
A weird thing I noticed looking at his shot map is he is 0-2 from the right corner, which is odd because that's where he gets sent half the time once he's handed the ball off to EF or DJ.
