Re: Watching basketball with boomers
Fun fact: some boomers love today's game and don't complain about any of the stuff in the poll. They have the same complaints we have, and their "back in my day" stories are about great players and how they influenced the game.

the no fundamentals part is often truth though... it aint just the Boomers saying it either.
the funniest thing I get from the Boomers is them thinking all the kids with neon shoes are part of the lgbt community

The worst part is that they've seen a ton more games, seen hundreds more players, have seen the game evolve over decades and have a depth of knowledge that can only come with decades of experience.

I hate watching with 'boomers' or ... whatever it is you just described. So what does that make me?
Plus I misread the thread title so, at first, I was like, "Who watches games with bone... ohhh, he said 'boomer'."

Re: Watching basketball with boomers
People have been complaining about the lack of fundamentals in"today's basketball" since the 1950s or whenever the jumpshot became popular. It's not really a boomer thing, it's just tradition at this point.

Re: Watching basketball with boomers
My dad, who only watches basketball when I'm watching it, definitely makes the free throw comment and will complain about too many 3s.
My mom will make comments about hair. And I remember all the women in my family had a thing for Amir Johnson.

Boomers: Larry/Magic and MJ were peak NBA
Gen X: MJ then the Kobe/Shaq Lakers were peak NBA
Millennials: Post hand check rule change to 2015 was peak NBA
Gen Z: Who wants to watch post play, 3s are the most efficient way to score
In my limited experience with older fans, I feel like actual "boomers" that I've talked NBA hoops with appreciate today's game and don't have a burning desire to talk about how great the game was back in the day. It's the 40 year olds and younger who are insistent that their era of hoops is the best.
The college basketball comment in the poll tho, I felt that one.

Well, the last time I actually did watch a game with Thon Maker we discussed the finer points of the game.

Too bad as it's all for naught as they're too stubborn to accept that people who do research will always be more informed than those who rely on anecodotal fata.

Only one from the poll i find silly is the free throws one. Sure they make millions of dollars, but that money can't buy them perfection. These guys are still human.

You forgot to include: "Players just don't post up anymore!"
Apart from "That's a travel!" (so many superstars get away with this), can I vote for every option in the poll?
