Re: Was AG Robbed?
My problem is, the last round shouldn't have even happened. Each contestant was to prepare 4 dunks only. There was already an extra dunk off round with a 5th dunk. And Gordon got 50s all the way. At worst it's over then, in a tie.
DJJ was great but it should have ended in a tie with Gordon at worst, and maybe Gordon winning it off his perfect scores.

Wade obviously doesn't stand for collusion. In fact the NBA should step in and make Wade the sole judge next year.

I think Chris Bosh would be a good judge too tbh.

Rock Hardy wrote:The delicious tears of immeasurable sadness sustain us. AG should've put his Tacko dunk earlier. He was awesome on the night, but that dunk as his finale was not a wise move. It was not visually impressive. Not in realtime, nor in slow-mo. He needed to go at it harder, and finish with more power. I can watch Vince Carter end Weis' career a million times on YT, but I'm not going to watch that AG leapfrog of Tacko Fall ever again. One was done in a live game, and it was only a few inches difference. Vince not only annihilated Weis, but he annihilated the rim too. Tacko dunk needed to be earlier. The 360 off the side of the backboard should've been the finale. He would have won for sure with that.
You serious? You realize he didn't think he'd have to go up for 6 dunks, right? He didn't expect to have to dunk on Taco. Even so, it was still way more impressive than that basic crap that DJJ ended the contest with. Stole from Lavine who did ten times better.

Re: Was AG Robbed?
I don't know if they should have just called it a tie or given it to AG, but AG didn't want to do the dunk off.
He took his shoes off and said I'm done. He was already defeated at that point.
Jones had a better attitude and wanted it more.
But you could fault the scoring system more than AG.

Dunks are subjective and bias is always going to be involved with anything and anywhere. I don't know how this was a **** show for you this was one of the better dunk contest we had in a while. And Gordon wasn't docked any points for missing his off side backboard 360 cuff windmill.
Cause it was, oh I don't know, actually impressive and creative? DJJ's tornado was the only creative one from him. AG had at least 2-3. But spamming under the legs dunks is the way to go apparently. If I was coaching someone into going to the dunk contest, I'd just tell my guy to spam that move too. It fools judges. Especially if one of them is your friend and teammate.

Re: Was AG Robbed?
AG's catch and twist off the side of the backboard was SICK. .
But jumping over someone is the least creative dunk. It's also the ugliest.
So I don't feel bad that he lost. It's impressive that he's able to (almost) jump over Taco, but it's not an exciting or beautiful dunk IMO.

Only if you agree that all his dunks were 50s (they were not )would you also think nutting taco in a final dunk was a 50 too. His jet wash spinner that took a 2nd attempt was the only true 50 he had all night. Jones had 1 true 50 with the off the backboard btwn legs hurdle.
If anything it could have been a tie and the way it ended was questionable by the judges given how over friendly they were throughout until then but the reality is they were out of time and the man did not jump over taco he basically jumped into his shoulders and the dunk was boring = big fat L
It was a stunt so everyone loved it. That's all that was special. He hit Tacos head.. DJJ had a better night and finish.
You guys are right, 80% of the world are the lunatics. The 20% are the sane ones thinking DJJ actually earned it and Wade definitely didn't cheat. Clearly.
Also, add 2 more people impressed with the same exact dunks from slightly different angles. Cool. It's easy to fool people.

Not every single one. He lied and said DJJ had a better night and finish. Those are both false. If people say they personally preferred DJJ, that's fine. If they say he was the better dunker and had the best dunks, I'm not letting that lie go.
Also, I know for a fact that if roles were reversed and DJJ was actually creative and not spamming and AG just spammed the same dunk and Vucevic was a judge Heat fans would be where I am now. We all know no one will admit to that, because you guys got the result you wanted.

Agree to disagree.
DJJ did between the legs in all but one dunk. How original..
Don't worry about responding to that one, he outted himself out as a troll yesterday. He also just repeats points. Stopped responding to him because there is no intelligent conversation that can happen with him.

Man talk about panties in a twist over a kids game.
Really wouldn't mean much at all to Heat fans if DJJ lost. Glad he won but some Magic fans are acting super petty like the league stole an actual championship from them

Re: Was AG Robbed?
I had a feeling that it was fixed because a judge shouldn't be a former teammate and give a fist pump when his teammate wins especially at the end like that by 1 point. Also, those dunks weren't all 50 pts. That was some easy perfect scores from judges who don't have the experience to know what is involved. Heck, us fans don't always know the degree of difficulty and thus the expert commentators explain it to us.
Anyway, what Common had to say just spilled the beans of what went on behind the scene. I found it on cbssports.com while arguing with another poster last night.
"In the end, Jones Jr. was awarded 48 of the possible 50 points for his final dunk, while Gordon was given a 47. Rapper Common, who was one of the celebrity judges, said afterward there was a plan in place to award both Gordon and Jones Jr. equal scores for their final dunk and end the contest with co-winners, but that one of the judges basically went rogue and abandoned the plan. All Twitter fingers are pointing at Dwyane Wade, who gave Gordon a nine and left the stage immediately. Wade played with Jones Jr. in Miami. Pretty easy to connect the dots.
I have to say, I'm not mad at Wade if this is what he did. First of all, this is all subjective. Jones Jr.'s final dunk -- a legit windmill from one step inside the free-throw line -- was arguably better than Gordon jumping over Tacko, as crazy as that sounds. But beyond that, if the plan really was to end that dunk contest on a tie, anything other than that was a better outcome."
Wade should not have been the judge. He let his teammate win. Now, that Common has let the cat out of the bag, what other contests were rigged???!!!???!!!

I actually dont think we would be throwing a fit if the roles were reversed, we knew A.G was robbed last time and we knew he would show up anytime in the dunk contest at any given year.
We you know.. kinda win enough, so we wouldnt throw a tantrum.

But DJJ can literally push himself off of the MUCH SMALLER BAM in 2 attempts and get a 46. Good to know. That means something because that means Pat should've been in the finals based on the judges scoring.
Also, yeah! Stop being so risky and creative Gordon! Just do under the legs dunks all night! That'll put the dunk contest back on the map! Wait, Gordon was involved and had THE BEST DUNK on two different nights that are considered some of the greatest dunk competitions of ALL TIME? Hmm. Maybe he knows way more than some guy on the internet.
