We knew Kobe and Pau were going to be amazing as soon as we saw them play together for the first time. Instant chemistry. They were really fun to watch.

Still surreal. Seeing the love here esp from non lakers and Kobe fans is just simply amazing and tells a lot about Kobe. He’s a great inspiration on and off the court.

Same. My stomach drops every day as if I just heard for the first time. Still hard to accept.
I find it hard to accept as well because it’s something that could have been avoided. Just my opinion. I get angry just thinking about it sometimes. We don’t know what the higher power wanted but Kobe and his daughter didn’t deserve to get taken out of the sky like that. Especially Gigi man so young and full of potential. This all could have been avoided , man.
I share these sentiments, I think Vanessa does as well given her IG post about being angry but whatever we feel is undoubtedly amplified by x100 in her case.
The best thing to help me move on has been just valuing the time I have with those close to me and doing my best everyday. No matter how anyone felt about Kobe, no one can deny the man was doing his best day-in and day-out and was the definition of hard work. Life is short, doesn't matter how great anyone is or appears to be at the end of the day we're born with nothing and will die with nothing. So it's all about being the best we can be between those times since we never know when it's going to end
I have a LOT more work to do before I'm at a place where I'm completely satisfied with my life but it's never too late to start trying to be better.
We do our best every day to insulate ourselves from the thought of death. Most of us here live in a developed country where it is peaceful and health and living standards are high. To us death is something that supposed to happen when your life is over, so to speak. But that’s not how it works. Death is inevitable. Everybody will die, it can happen any time.
Thousands of people posted in this thread over the past 3 weeks. It’s likely some of us who did will be dead this time next year. If not we will all be dead in 60 years max . Vanessa is mourning Kobe now, eventually she’ll die too. Kobe’s other kids will die. And so on. It’s ridiculous to have to type it out but it makes it a bit more real seeing the words in front of you. It doesn’t make the event any less tragic, but it does take away a bit of the jolt of experiencing a jarring event.

Beyond the court
Bryant diversified his career by breaking into the investing world even before leaving the NBA. In 2013, he co-founded venture capital firm Bryant Stibel along with Web.com founder Jeff Stibel.
The company called Bryant "more than a founding partner" and a "creative visionary who quickly became an accomplished entrepreneur and investor," in a statement released Wednesday.
In creating the company, Bryant followed the model of a select number of other sports legends who have been able to transform skills developed on the court into business success. NBA Hall of Fame point guard Earvin "Magic" Johnson was among the first in 1987, when he founded investment firm Magic Johnson Enterprises, which invested in a number of sizable businesses, including Starbucks and New York's LaGuardia airport.
Bryant's firm now has more than $2 billion in assets, with investments in dozens of technology, media and data companies. Bryant Stibel claims at least 10 successful exits, including Dell and Alibaba. It also has investments in Fortnite creator Epic Games, digital payment company Klarna and household products firm The Honest Company.

Re: Kobe Bryant Discussion, Part Two
Kobe was truly one of the Greats.
I'm 34 years old and watching NBA since 10.
I saw the end of the jordan era. He was the undisputed best. Some could argue kareem.
Then Kobe came and was so close to being like mike that he never could shake being a close second. Dirk was great in that finals run. Lebron has had a few great moments. For me post jordan. It's obviously lebron and kobe. And last playoffs Kawhi entered the category

NBA is just not the same for me right now.
Didn't bother to watch one second of the All Star weekend, and only caught a few minutes of the Pacers' since this happened.
I really don't care anymore, not the NBA, or the Pacers.
One day I will again, just not anytime soon.

Re: Kobe Bryant Discussion, Part Two
F1 winter testing kicked off today, and Daniel Ricciardo (aka The Honey Badger) has a Kobe Bryant tribute helmet for testing:
Ironically, I'm pretty sure honey badgers have black mambas on the menu, but it's a nice tribute all the same.

Re: Kobe Bryant Discussion, Part Two
know this is semi dramatic so dont take it so literally, but does anyone else feel a weird sense of guilt? I feel terrible that "we" got his entire playing career and some/most of us grew up watching him play. But his actual immediate family he adored with his wife and 4 daughters only got so little of him. Really makes a lot of this hard to deal with.
All I know is Vanessa Bryant must be protected and loved at all costs. Feeling the need to post her way through this to the millions of his fans on social media isn't right. I really hope his NBA extended family is helping her as much as they are able through this.

More and more this was a case of pilot negligence. The families should sue the pilot’s estate and charter airline company until they are all dead broke

Kobe, the NBA, and my world isn’t the same without you.
