Yes. He does more work than the artist. He makes the beat. He tweaks and constructs the artists rough sounding vocal into a smooth voice and then adds the effects that compliment the voice as it sits at the perfect spot on the groove of the beat using software that these "super talented" artists would never be able to learn nor have the intelligence to comprehend. So yeah, sound engineers/producers do a lot. But to all the casuals you guys think the artists go into a studio and perform magic and it just happens somehow, and thats because the media makes it seem that way.
