Gonna go with Wiseman. Not thrilled about drafting another rim rolling type of big so soon but may just have to take most talented and he might be it.

So because this is the Pistons big board and not the NBA Big Board I'm explicitly not putting Wiseman at #3.

I can't see the Pistons drafting Wiseman even if Edwards and Ball are off the board. Even if he is theoretically up there I think they either trade the pick (which is the implicit '0' on the big board anyway) or take a guard/wing. So he might as well not be up there that high.

I'm going with Tyrese Haliburton. I know he's injured and has a weird shot. But he seems to shoot it well and deep, is a good passer, makes good decisions and has a lot of length.

I just don't have a lot of faith that Cole Anthony will magically fix his tendencies of poor shot selection/turnovers and he's a bit small.

Well, I had Wiseman at 1 and 2 so obviously I'm voting Wiseman at 3. I think he is great value at this pick. Again, I'm not a scout and haven't done my due diligence with prospects but I really like what I've seen from Wiseman in the few games he's played. I know the "New NBA" doesn't value big men as much, but is some ways its Bull**** because guys like Giannis and AD are bigmen and just as valuable as anybody else.

AD and Giannis are extremely skilled basketball players/freak athletes who can do a multitude of things on both ends of the floor who *happen* to be big. Them being big only accentuates a good skill set and makes it more dangerous.

This is in sharp contrast to players like Drummond, Whiteside, and DJ who rely solely on their 'bigness' and only excel in areas that bigness contributes to: Rebounding, patrolling the paint (some of them anyway), and posting up.

It's not bull. The first set is an extremely rare combination. The latter set is much more common and has less of an impact in today's game.

Trying to compare the two is like comparing Apples to rocks.

I hear you but are you sure Wiseman is just another Andre Drummond type - lower skill / lower IQ player that has a niche? From what I've seen of Wiseman he seems to have a good feel for the game (as well as natural talent) and could develop beyond a Drummond.

The only thing we have to base opinions on are his high school career and 3 college games. During which he did show any capacity to shoot from the outside and was a poor FT shooter.

Could he develop further? I guess? But do you use a potentially franchise-altering pick on a hunch not substantiated by proof? I think the last times we have done that here were Darko and Leuer to an extent. And this guy has shown way less.

At this point I'm not sure I would want the number one pick. What I'm not sure about is can you get value based on the cost of the number one pick. There are two players in this draft that intrigue me. Killian Hayes point-guard guard has excellent ability to run an offense and get his teammates involved. He's described as a pass first point guard who has the ability to get his own offense. He has excellent size as 6 ft 5 in and strength. He's playing in the pro league in Europe so it might take him a year or two to mature to a NBA quality point guard but I think he has what it takes. The other player that intrigues me is Obi Toppin. At 6 P 9 in tall he has excellent size and athletic ability. Much like Christian Woods he plays the game the right way. He seems to excel in the pick-and-roll. At this point not having an in-depth knowledge of everybody in the draft I would be satisfied with either of these picks. If I have to choose one I choose Hayes. He seems to have the ability to create for himselfand to get his teammates involved in the offense. He seems to excel in the pick-and-roll.

Haliburton here for me.

He's got that Spencer Dinwiddie feel about him and I think he can be a hard worker. Worst case scenario we trade him for value or an RFA throw in later on. The potential is there.
