I thought about a guy like Harris. He is not cheap - some 19m per year - but they may want to move him since they do have Barton. And they will have Jerami Grant to bring back.
There's actually a lot of bargain options for solid shooters in this 2020 free agency. Meaning we shouldn't really need to expend any assets for them:
-
Etwaun Moore-
39% career 3 point shooter8.5 million.
-
Joe Harris-
42% career 3 point shooter8 million.
-
Langston Galloway-
39% 3 point shootingfor the season 7 million.
-
Justin Holiday-
41% 3 point shooting for the season 4 million.
-
***Bryn Forbes***-
39% Career 3 point shooter 3 million. Streaky but lethal 3 point shooter when he gets it going.
-
Alec Burks-
37% 3 point shooting for the season 2.3 million. A big time scorer when given minutes.
-
Glenn Robinson 3rd-
37% 3 point shooting for the season 1.8 million. Is a really solid scorer and plus athlete too.
-
Furkan Korkmaz-
39 % 3 point shooting for the season 1.6 million.
-
David Nwaba-*** unsigned.
42% 3 pointbshooting for the season So all of these players are solid scoring options for our bench needs, And many could possibly be had relatively cheaply in free agency. My favorite options are:
Joe Harris, Bryn Forbes, Alec Burks, Glenn Robinson 3rd, and Furkan Korkmaz. David Nwaba for the minimum possibly. So we need to draft a top notch 3 and D power forward, And then sign two scorers for our bench, Then look to resign Baynes, and possibly sign in free agency ( Jerami Grant
PO, Markieff Morris, Montrez Harrell, Jamychal Green, Patrick Patterson,
ChristianWood? or trade for ( Bjelica)? a solid starting 4.
Of that list Joe harris for 8 million stands out. Are you sure he can be had for that amt? Seems low imo but if so that'd be a great add along with spending on Jerami Grant, then we can focus our draft on acquiring a PG that can hit shots and eventually take over for Rubio.
Sorry! My bad man. Those were their current salaries. But for Harris I'd expect him to get around 10-12 million tops IF a team with cap space has him high on their free agency list.
I'd definitely be willing to pay him up to 10 million ( max) if he was interested. But if he's not, Then no big deal. Because I would then look to Offer
Bryn Forbes ( 39% career 3 point shooter) 5 million. And Glenn Robinson 3rd (
37 % career 3 point shooter 5 million. Then I'd offer
Fred Van Fleet 14 million.
Then using our Taxpayer midlevel exception ( 6 million) I'd offer Nerlens Noel or Dwight Howard 6 million.
On draft night, I'd look to trade Oubre / Okobo/ Future Phoenix 2nd to Denver for Jerami Grant .........(resigned) / and the Houston pick.
Then once everyone is traded and signed ( free agency). I'd use our 11th pick on either Obi Toppin or Deni Avdija. And the Houston pick ( 20s') I'd draft Saddiq Bey! ( Our new TJ Warren).
Lastly, We resign Baynes and Kaminsky with their bird rights. So our opening roster could look like:
- Rubio/ Van Fleet/ Carter.
- Booker/ Forbes/ Cam.
- Bridges/ Glenn Robinson 3rd/ Saddiq Bey.
- Jerami Grant/ Deni Avdija / Frank Kaminsky.
- Ayton/ Baynes/ Nerlens Noel.
*** I really like this rosters' potential. There's a ton of athleticism, Shooting, Bench scoring, and defensive tenacity. We'll be drastically improved at all key areas.
