Of that list Joe harris for 8 million stands out. Are you sure he can be had for that amt? Seems low imo but if so that'd be a great add along with spending on Jerami Grant, then we can focus our draft on acquiring a PG that can hit shots and eventually take over for Rubio.
Sorry! My bad man. Those were their current salaries. But for Harris I'd expect him to get around 10-12 million tops IF a team with cap space has him high on their free agency list.
I'd definitely be willing to pay him up to 10 million ( max) if he was interested. But if he's not, Then no big deal. Because I would then look to Offer
Bryn Forbes ( 39% career 3 point shooter) 5 million. And Glenn Robinson 3rd (
37 % career 3 point shooter 5 million. Then I'd offer
Fred Van Fleet 14 million.
Then using our Taxpayer midlevel exception ( 6 million) I'd offer Nerlens Noel or Dwight Howard 6 million.
On draft night, I'd look to trade Oubre / Okobo/ Future Phoenix 2nd to Denver for Jerami Grant .........(resigned) / and the Houston pick.
Then once everyone is traded and signed ( free agency). I'd use our 11th pick on either Obi Toppin or Deni Avdija. And the Houston pick ( 20s') I'd draft Saddiq Bey! ( Our new TJ Warren).
Lastly, We resign Baynes and Kaminsky with their bird rights. So our opening roster could look like:
- Rubio/ Van Fleet/ Carter.
- Booker/ Forbes/ Cam.
- Bridges/ Glenn Robinson 3rd/ Saddiq Bey.
- Jerami Grant/ Deni Avdija / Frank Kaminsky.
- Ayton/ Baynes/ Nerlens Noel.
*** I really like this rosters' potential. There's a ton of athleticism, Shooting, Bench scoring, and defensive tenacity. We'll be drastically improved at all key areas.

I don't understand trading Oubre for an older less productive player like Grant. Is it really for the 4% points on three point shooting?
Sorry man if I wasn't more clear in my post. As I've stated repeatedly, I'm really fond of Oubre and the advancements he's making to his overall game. However, These improvements will of course come at a premium cost to us in 2021. As he'll be an unrestricted free agent that very summer in which everyone is pooling their money for. And given that consideration, It's not at all unreasonable to believe he'll likely command somewhere in the area of over 20+ million due to his breakout season. And he may even get over 25- 28 million. So then the question becomes, do we spendc all of our cap space to resign him, And then we're left with no other tangible avenues for improvements with respect to our roster needs?
I guess it'd be a matter of preference, And if you'd be ok with our only big move being resigning Oubre. This would be his first real chance at his first big contract. So he's going to go for the top offer he can get. Now maybe I'm wrong, And he becomes our 3rd star. But then again, maybe he doesn't. And if Bridges is better starting, And is a core piece for us going forward, Then paying 25+ million for a potential backup wing is kind of unreasonable and expensive when you also take into account all of our impending core extensions AND Bookers' rookie scale contractual increases.
So the premise is to move him and get solid value IF we're not intending to invest a large chunk of our cap space in him. And honestly, Grant for all the flack he gets for not averaging very many rebounds , Is still a very good on ball defender, And also solid perimeter defender too. Two areas that we're very poor in. He also is shooting 39% from three to Kelly's 35% So with respect to our needs for floor spacing, That does need to be a consideration. Now if Oubre could consistently shoot around 39% from three and have a lower usage rate but better efficiency, Then yes! Perhaps we should keep him. But at a pricetag of over 25+ million ( most likely) ???

And the Houston pick in the 20s' could net us a very solid backup guard in............
Comparisons and potential-
- Theo Maledon. ( Shai Gilgeous Alexander).
- Joel Ayayi. ( Emmanuel Mudiay).
- Jahmius Ramsey. ( Marcus Smart).
- Tre Jones. ( Tyus Jones).
- Saddiq Bey. ( Buddy Hield).
- Tyler Bey. ( Shawn Marion Lite). And a walking double/Double and Elite rebounder and Elite defender at small forward. Shooting over 40% from three. *** Could give us everything Oubre does, But at a fraction of the cost.
- Aaron Nesmith. ( Michael Redd).
In the end, The sticking point for me will be Oubres' pricetag in unrestricted free agency. Wherein all of the teams with a ton of cap space that miss out on big names will likely be willing to overpay for a player like Oubre. So again, Since he's not restricted, Do we choose to drastically overpay in order to bring him back? Or would it make more sense to get the best possible value for him, Whilst possibly clearing more cap space for additional areas of need that can be addressed that summer?
Lastly, Any acquired picks or additionally drafted prospects can be developed as high value tradable assets for larger, potentially star inclusive trades, etc. And the better they play, The more trade value they build for our asset cache. I'm just trying to be proactive and build for the longterm as well as the short term.
