Oh dang, I just googled the release date and it said April - I should have clicked further.
They should just hold off until the PS5 gets released and drop it then on with even better graphics available.
They want to hit PC market as quickly as possible for rev rec, obviously. I recall an article on Witcher 3 from maybe a year ago about how PC was the biggest "platform" for the title, so CDR is probably thinking along the same lines.
Also, I'm sure it would not represent a small delay to update all of textures in a massive game to release it on Next Gen instead. I imagine that's a call that, realistically, they would have had to make 1-2 years ago.
Well, I look at TLOU 1 as a rough guide - it was released on PS3 in June 2013. PS4 was released November/December 2013. The remastered TLOU was released in June of 2014.
I don't know if all of the game studios have a good sense of what the PS5 specs will be right now so that they can plan ahead, but if you're a console owner, it bites a bit to buy game to play on current gen tech when a new console is basically 3-4 months away.
I know what you mean. An added year delay isn't a small deal, though, and it wouldn't be a "remaster" in this scenario - it's building the game for PS5. I don't know, but I imagine there's a difference there dev-wise.
