Beal has a streak of good games and he's barely mentioned in the game thread. He has one bad game and all of a sudden he's a selfish bum. Go figure.

As I said a few weeks back, for Beal it's damned if you do and damned if you don't.

He's the star player. I don't know if you expect Beal to be held to the same standard as Ish Smith but that's not going to happen. 9/28, 6 TO's is going to be called out. Especially when he chooses not to play defense.

Watching Beal and his facial expressions, I just get the impression he feels like he's gotta carry the team, and he's doing all he can and they still lose. He doesn't seem to realize his "carrying the team" isn't helping its hurting.

Plus to have all these young players learning to play team ball and play the right way, and they all seem to be buying in to it, except for the player who is supposedly the leader. It's just a bad example. It can't be good for team morale, especially when it leads to loss after loss.

Good post. Couldn't have put it any better

I agree -- it was just one bad game, the bum....

No I don't expect BB to be held to the same standard as Ish. And I do expect him to be called out when he has a bad game. But I also expect him to be shown some love when he has an outstanding game. I'd suggest you go back and look at those game threads where Beal has had a good game--as he has often had in the last few weeks--and see just how little appreciation and love he gets.

But then again, maybe I should keep in mind the axiom we use in the news business: "If it bleeds it leads."

I watched the first half & first few minutes of the 3d quarter. Then I had to do something else but planned to watch the rest on DVR. When I saw the final score, however, I didn't bother.

I have to say that I don't think I've ever seen a boxscore like last night's.

We took 25 more shots than our opponent! & we scored 1 more point than they did from the line. We forced them into 21 turnovers, to our 11. We had 12 steals to their 3. We even had 5 more assists than they did. We got defensive boards on a far higher percentage of their misses than they did on ours. Got more offensive boards too.

Yet we lost. We just could not get the ball to go through the basket.

What's interesting is that he's not even shooting all that poorly from midrange. His midrange shooting percentage are right in line with the peak of his career. Indeed his long 2 percentage is the 2nd best of his career (behind only his 2016-17, which was the last year he played alongside a healthy John Wall for an entire season).

It's his 3-point percentage that's down. Way down.

Yeah, I meant his 3-pt shot. It's come to a point where I am actually surprised when he makes a wide open 3.
I also feel like he's shooting way too much this season, and it's not actually helping the team win, at all.

Over the last 7 games Beal is attempting 25.7 shots per game.....in regulation. That is just ridiculous, especially given his "everybody eats" comment directed at Wall.

Harden, the league leader in attempts, is taking 23 shots per game.

Just wait til Wall comes back... between him and this new version of Beal nobody else on the team is ever gonna touch the ball !!!

Yeah, that is worrisome. If Wall did the same that would leave a total of 42 shots for the rest of the team.

Code: Select all

           FGA    MP   ST%/Min
Beal        28   34.30   82%
Brown       10   19.83   50%
Wagner       7   15.52   45%
Napier       8   18.30   44%
Bryant       7   16.10   43%
Smith       12   29.70   40%
Hachimura   13   34.16   38%
Bertāns      7   26.05   27%
Mahinmi      3   16.38   18%
Bonga        3   18.85   16%

What is a bit striking is the shots that Hachimura and Bertans didn't get. Maybe the coach isn't running specific plays for them?
