Thibs has/had his flaws, but he’s still a good coach.

Thibs is going to drill these kids defensively until all we allow are midrange jumpers. It would be a boon for Mitch defensively; he could and probably would start. I could see him having a very good effect on RJ and Frank also. DSJ not so much.

Now offensively I’d hope they bring in an associate who’s savvier on that end, but that’s not to say Thibs hasn’t studied up and added a few wrinkles to his own playbook with all this time off.
This is everything they said would happen in Minny. He even brought in his old Bulls to make it happen. It didn't happen.

On behalf of BnO, I would prefer you had called him a giant, yawning void instead.

I hope there isn't a crossover of Knick fans who clamored for Coach Bud but don't want Thibs.

I'd still prefer Thibs as a defensive coordinator to a different head coach, but oh well.

Except one stresses ball and player movement, 3 point shooting, and fast pace and the other is Thibs, who does the exact opposite

Some important questions to Thibs would be “how would you coach differently today, with this team” and “what did you learn in the past few years”? If he is not changing or learning anything useful, then pass. If he is willing to adjust accordingly then he could be a good option. The good coaches are always learning something new, adjust and evolve.

Bulls had plenty of ball movement

What about the other 2 things? What about the Timberwolves?

I'm not super against Thibs. He's certainly better than what we've had recently, but I'm not overly optimistic either.

TWolves were a top 3 seed when Butler was healthy and had a top 5 offense. It all cratered when Jimmy hated Wiggins and KAT work ethic but Thibs had those guys balling out. I'm not a big Thibs guy because I think he wears on people and plays guys too high of a minute load but he's been successful every time he's been given a fair shot with a healthy roster.

Wolves played at a decent pace and had high scoring. Thibodeau would need to adjust to the 3. Considering every team shoots at least 20 a game, figure he will too.

That's really any coach. Give them a good enough roster and they will do something with it. Hornacek had the Suns balling out that one year too. Fizdale had the Grizzlies as one of the toughest matchups for anybody in the league that one year too. Then they came to the Knicks and, well.....

Dantoni failed here too, had success on other teams. Larry Brown. Woodson had that one good year on the Knicks but failed afterwards.

We just gotta be real, Thibs isn't changing anything on the Knicks until the Knicks get better players that fit well together. That pretty much applies to all previous coaches and future coaches.

If Knicks aren't winning, this will just be another thing that will get really annoying to have to look at and listen to

I wouldn't mind this either, but that would be a demotion for him. I can't see it.

Haven't heard much about any young hotshot assistants around the league for some time.
