Can’t gloss over the fact that those contracts will still have trade value in the offseason. If it were another team, they’d be lauded for cleverly negotiating those contracts but since it’s us, as with everything, it’s a reason for lolknicks.
Now whether we are able to use them is another story.
But even then, it takes two to make a deal.
The bigger issue is why are these dudes still playing.

Makes sense. I hope you’re right.

yeah the contracts of Ellington, Taj, Elfrid, Bullock are valuable; maybe finally they'll take on an unwanted contract + a draft pick

Probably a good idea.

Depending on who is available, I am quite okay keeping Taj as a mentor and for spot minutes. I want to keep Bullock.

But why? I mean, I like the guy too but we have Dotson, Trier, and we're going to draft some players. Bullock is actually someone we could get something for.

Bullock is one of the better 3-D guys and i'd like to keep him around as well but if it's about tanking again next year and we can get something good fro him then we might as well do it but i am a Bullock fan.

It's Portis, Ellington and Payton who should just be gone for whatever. Bullock I'd at least like to see something back for

Portis doesn't have the same value as the others because he's on a team option; Knicks would have to pick up his option and then trade him and I don't think any teams want Portis at 15M
Ellington, Bullock, Payton, Taj are all on non-guaranteed deals so they can be moved

agreed; get what they can for him as someone who has just 1 year left at only 4M; he should be relatively valuable
Knicks need to IMO use the non-guaranteed contracts to trade to some team looking to free up cap space for FA. land another 1st rounder; despite what some are calling a weak draft, I like the mid-tier players; it's not a top heavy class but IMO there are some good potential role players (big Saddiq Bey fan, Ramsey, Nesmith too)

Agreed and in that group of Mid Tier players I would bet my left leg there are a couple of sleeper future Allstars.

I agree, but I think its likely one or both of Dotson and Trier don't come back, and Bullock is a deal at that price. Now would I trade him for someone young and talented or a draft pick? Of course, but given nothing else comes up, I would bring him back whereas I would not bring back Portis, Ellington or Payton.

look at how putrid our 3pt shooting has been without Morris. You want to dump our 2nd best shooter. And lets be honest, Dot has NEVER shot enough. Way too hesitant to hoist them up but, when you r play time is as random and senseless as his, he probably doesn't want to make a mistake.

I'm not sure where you get that i want to dump Bullock and made it pretty clear that i'm a fan of his and would like to keep him. But if we're planning on going the tank route and we can actually get something good for Bullock then what sense would it make to keep him? If we're tanking then it's more about draft picks and what we can add to this team through the draft. Now if the plan is to try to trade all these draft picks and young assets we have for big name players then i'm all about having any 3-D players on the team and Bullock is one of the better ones.

3pt shooting is the reason to keep him. We don't have shooters on this team. Dot isn't enough and shooter aren't exactly easy to come by these days.

Yes i know. I'm not sure if you're trying to debate with me or agreeing with me cause i've said that i love that he's a 3-D player multiple times and said how important i think it is for any team that's planning on winning to have multiple 3-D players.

Trier should be playing instead.

Jerome Robinson, remember how we couldn't even get him from the clippers for free, with the game winner against Brooklyn.

Two "realistic" off-season acquisition targets that I think would fit well with Mitch/RJ: Hield and Jerami Grant. Just putting those two out there.
