James Harden throws shots at Greek Freak

“When it’s all said and done, they will appreciate it more,” said Harden. “But I wish I could just run and be 7 feet and just dunk. Like that takes no skill at all (laughs).

“I had to actually learn how to play basketball and how to have skill, you know? I take that any day.”

Sounds like the guy at the YMCA who can shoot but is only 5'7" with no hops. I guess Harden thinks he was born without advantages 99.9% of the population don't have and is in the NBA only because of "skill".

It's not really Harden's fault that he has become the poster-boy for what a lot of fans hate about the modern NBA. He essentially gets blamed for all of the traveling, flopping, and 3pnt chucking that has become the staple of this league.

Harden's a great player but he'll always get backlash for his flopping and skilled ways of getting calls. The crazy part is that he's so talented that he doesn't even need to do all that extra stuff.

I knew KG was right. We should have traded Giannis for 2-3 all stars and build around Thon Maker.
No difference at all.

Another b2b MVP plus 2-3 all stars = Dynasty

So we believe that some people are just natural shooters? So shooting ability is predetermined at birth like height?

I mean there’s got to be some element of work to it. Like are there dudes out there walking around who can shoot just as well as Harden but don’t know it. Or is it more that there are dudes that had the potential to shoot just as well as Harden that never invested the time.

I kind of think a naturally athletic 7 footer being able to run fast and dunk has a much faster learning process than a 6’5” guy becoming an elite shooter. I think that’s all that Harden is getting at w/ his comments.

ball handling too. Harden is arguably the best ball handler of all time.

Again Harden simply cant understand why 99% of the people outside of Houston hate his style of play. And as always he plays the poor victim card.

On a funnier note: Giannis is going to be remembered more than Harden.

Not really a shot, imo. I mean, what did he say that was inaccurate? The Freak was inaccurate. Who doesn't know the Harden has been a top the league for at least half a decade for assists and is an elite playmaker.

Rachel Nichols went fishing for that by bringing up what Giannis said in the first place. Typical ESPN trying to create storylines so they can generate clicks and continue their awful coverage of the actual game.

Man I wish the playoffs were 1-16. We could've seen playoffs between these two.

Yes it is. If it were just practice, then half the league at any given time would be an elite shooter through sheer reps. Hand eye coordination is a genetic/athletic trait as well. See Trae Young. Harden's work ethic, until the past few years, has been suspect as well. Giannis has been a grinder the moment he entered the league. Both work hard but I think any neutral observer would choose Giannis over Harden in that respect. People just equate shooting as a skill because literally anyone can shoot a basketball but most people literally can't do what Giannis does.

Work ethic matters of course, and you can improve the skill of shooting more than the skill of being tall but for Harden to try and spin this like Giannis is just coasting on athleticism where he is the true craftsman is a real stretch.

I don't love Harden, and I'm a Giannis fan, but I also think that if Harden had Giannis's body, he'd be a GOAT all time player, whereas if Giannis had Harden's body, he'd be the best player at the Y.
