Grant top 10 in 538's rookie contributions at #9. Clarke & Thybulle are 3 and 4, so the debate can continue.

And remember, he was riddled with lingering injuries, in both the NBA and G-League.

Langford it seems, just needed time to get into the swing of things, past the injuries.
The Kid is good; same for Grant. Not so sure about Edwards.

Waters is definitely ready to play in the NBA. Fall, may need to stay down for one more year.
Or in the least, (Fall) be our 15th Man, and go down for more assignments.

I don’t agree that he needed time down there. I don’t think it did anything for him or us. He probably doesn’t injur himself again either.

IMO this is an extremely revisionist take. They were rebuilding Romeo's shooting motion during the offseason. He had the thumb injury. More than anything else, he needed to get a chance to get his legs under him as a shooter, and build some confidence in his ability to shoot the basketball. That's where the G League comes in. He needs/needed game reps shooting. The worst thing you could have done is give him 1 3PA a game with the big club, knowing that if he misses he doesn't get another one... He started in the developmental league because he needs/needed development.

The Celtics, like everyone else on earth, also presumably did not anticipate him being as useful as a defensive player off the bench as he's been. "Romeo Langford will adapt quickly to being an NBA role player" is something that hasn't been said by anyone on RealGM/college hoops media/NBA draft media etc. Sometimes things develop differently than planned.

Also while Romeo's contributions as a defender are a pleasant surprise, he's only made 5 of 20 3PA, including an airball. Maybe he could use more time in the G-league.

There’s nothing revisionist about it. What good did it do him down there? How has reintegrating his shot in the g league translated? It hasn’t . There isn’t anything he learned down there aside from getting reps and I think those reps should have been up here. We had a b2b and he had a dnp. Meanwhile mlw bench is deep and tearing it up. Sometimes you have to throw these kids into the fire and see how they respond. I think he has responded well but it’s pretty late in the game. Bideaway not every point has to be scored by a 3. They could have taken advantage of his natural talents this year and worked on 3s later

RJ Hunter Part Deux?

Though you do have to give him more rope before you cut it.
Thanks Brad for answering my ad,

Tacko's Free Throws are way off. He needs to improve them.
Otherwise, he'll have trouble making the transition to the NBA.

Under 40% is definitely not a good look. That's why I want him to go underhand this summer.

I think that Langford could get some mins as a relief, in the Playoffs
Still 6+ weeks. Plenty of time to get prepped.

5-20 from the 3 is no worry for a rook's first 20 shots in the league. Two more makes in the sample and he's at the league average. Romeo looks good on D and O. Too bad about his earlier injuries. You can see opponent's savvy vet's going after him and Grant with sheer wilyness. The both just need a steady diet of experience to sharpen their responses to such challenges.

Tacko is starting to throw his weight around like he means it or something lately. And I am here for the demoralization of opponents in the post. What I love is that at 7'6, he plays every bit that big. He never brings the ball down so even for a 7-fter it's next to impossible to block him from scoring off the offensive rebound. He ALWAYS runs straight to the front of the rim. And on defense, he's really showing now some nice nimbleness in his ability to mark and measure up driving guards starting from just inside the arc and shade them all the way down the rim and then block the shot as they go up. I need this kid to spend 2 weeks with KG and then 2 weeks with McHale this offseason in the WORST way.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

I wasn't aware that Poirier could shoot away from the basket.
He's got Range, swished a 3 in the 1st Qtr. (Maine Red Claws)
