You do have to wonder how some of those guys trained for the combine. Some guys looked like they drove in from Fort Wayne for the day and others looked seriously prepared.

Taylor said in one interview that he went to a camp where they specifically program for athletes to prep for camps/combines/etc. Personal workout program, personal diet developed and all that.

He's clearly a possession receiver, so I'm not sure Cephus' status is changed much by running a slow 40 (even if it's REAL slow). I think if he came out and ran faster than expected (e.g. if he got a 4.5), then he could move up. As it stands, I'm guessing he stays a middle-rounder. Maybe 4/5. But yeah, with the deep class, he could slide if others do.

That was bad. So was picking Robert Ferguson over Chris Chambers. The most recent, picking Kevin King over Watt (and yes later drafting fellow Badger Biegel), might be the worst though.

And Cephus will probably run faster at the WI pro day. Those times always seem to be faster than the combine anyway.

I was looking at other combine numbers, and Cephus seemed really high in everything other than 40...that screams plays faster than timed to me.

His 3-cone was not great, which is more concerning for his play style IMO than his straight-line speed in a 40. But in general I agree.

The praise he got from other players was noteworthy, as well.

Cephus definitely played faster than that time. He was basically always open on routes down field, sideline or middle.

Mims should be a great pick, if that's the way things fall.

In spite of the Pack picking way back at #30, I can't help but feel they could land a day one starter. This could well be one of those years where the true BPA also fills a position of need. There are several of the top flight WR's like Mims, Aiyuk, Shenault, and???, or even a top ILB. Even if everybody upstream picks WR's or ILB's, then one of the top DL or OL guys fall, or even a QB like Eason (Bucky Brooks mocked him to GB)

Just don't pick a "head-scratcher" at #30.....

Watch the throw at 3:20 from the far hash. He just recently got his first real QB training in preparing for the combine. Wisconsin kid that has every bit the arm talent as anyone in the class but not part of the hype machine. Perfect chance to take a chance

Feels like guys get hurt running the 40 fairly often. They should just get rid of it as to me it seems like a nearly useless metric. How often in an nfl game do you line up in the blocks like an Olympic sprinter and just run untouched for 40 yards?

Yeah, if I was a GM I would be more into the 10 and 20 yard splits. Leighton Vander Esch only ran a 4.65 40, but I remember seeing an article saying the Cowboys took him because he reached his top speed really quickly.

I'm pretty sure the Packers took Clay Matthews because of his 10 time.

Player crosses the finish line, looks at their agent in the stands who is sitting there with a stop watch...agent gives player the nod...player reaches down and grabs hamstring to explain away a disappointing time.

Pack really need a guy like this to open up some creative stuff MLF has up his sleeve.

Sounds like a really big, pretty quick target. Now can he run a route, catch, and block?
