Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
With only Snell, Svi and Galloway left as wings he'll get some minutes and a tryout as an inexpensive piece next year. The healthy roster is getting short and I don't expect Kennard back this season.

Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
EBR's mean 175% of his last year salary right? So Detroit can offer up to $2.975M with his EBR's in the off-season.

Speaking of which McRrae's had an on and off finger injury for a chunk of the season. I'm a fan, but he's been ridiculously injury-prone throughout his career. He's a scorer - though his 3 point shot has been inconsistent. 6'5 but 7' length helps him finish. I don't know if he's playing hurt, but he looked a step slower the last few times I've seen him. If he regains that step and stays healthy, he's a good NBA player - big ifs. Passes and handles above average for a 2.

For some reason I had it in my head that he was still a young player. Why are we claiming a 28 yr old off waivers?

yikes. I guess were just plugging him in as a stop gap to get through this season.

Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
Probably means Rose and Kennard are not playing again this season.
Brown and Knight at the point, Galloway and Svi at 2-guard, Snell and McRae at SF?

No big deal. Just a warm body to make up for Luke & Rose being injured

I don't think it's that complicated. They just took a free flier on a talented NBA player with injury issues. Look, Pistons can't afford to put much money behind an injury plagued starter, but a talented reserve with early bird rights? It's a low risk move.
And Jordan McRae is not interfering with the tank.

Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
haha i still remember when he first played us - it was the last game of the 2016 season and cleveland rested all their starters before the playoffs. mcrae was pretty much a nobody but dropped 36 points and hit some clutch shots to send the game into overtime. he missed everything in overtime but before that was absolutely on fire.
he kind of reminds me of a late-career michael beasley, where he has some talent and can score enough to fool you but won't contribute much at all to actually winning.

Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
In the Free Agents thread I wrote,
Get someone with high upside or take on garbage contracts for picks.
McRae has no upside and takes minutes from Khyri. WTF. Casey pissed off no 32 years olds on waiver to play heavy minutes, so Pistons picked up 28 year olds and plays guy getting out of the taxi straight from the airport 25 minutes.
Bad organizations make bad moves and continue to be bad.

Re: Pistons Claim Jordan McRae
It's shocking there weren't any 20 year old future stars available off the waiver wire.

There is a SG on the roster, Khyri Thomas, who is young and played extremely well in the G-league. He was injured before, but now is healthy.
He got 9 minutes in the game, 2 minutes last game.
This team is tanking!
