$1 Pizza everywhere. What are you doing

*$2.50

And yeah bro you're out here eating wrong lol. Pizza, bodega sandwiches, some puerto rican food, jamaican food, you'll be eating cheap all the time.

When I went to New York in 2017 we ate so many late night pieces of Pizza's. We would get some tasty lax Bagel's for breakfast, eat a decent lunch [food in the tier you mentioned] and then splurge for Dinner. I will add we were in New York to enjoy ourselves and being 24-25 year old men with disposable income made it easier at the time.

I'm in my 30s, I'm not meeting up with people for dinner at bodegas.

I do get pizza and egg sandwiches here and there, but if you want some high quality pizza it's gonna cost guap. Di Fara was 5 dollars a slice 10 years ago, only the lord knows what it is now.

I'm talking more quality dining from sit down places that are not even famous. Plus just getting a beer in most parts of Manhattan is jokes. Some these places are charging 7-8 dollars for bottled beers. BBQ spots that are nowhere near as good as the stuff down south charging an arm and a leg. Subway is 2.75 now?! What on earth happened the past 3 years or so.

:o I'm basically picking the spots from now on, can't trust these people to pick the spots.

The nasty world of States' pizza, part 47.
This place is a cesspool of mindless ineptitude, mental decrepitude, and intellectual lassitude. I refuse to be sucked any deeper into this whirlpool of groupthink sewage. My opinions have been expressed. I'm going to go take a shower.

An expert on viruses that was on Joe Rogan's podcast said that the Corona Virus epidemic could last for several months. Now I don't know if that means it will exist everywhere for that many months or different pockets throughout the world but it's not going away anytime soon.

No one knows. We’ve barely begun doing research on this virus. Best case scenario is that people develop immunity after the first infection because right now models say that up to 70% of Americans will be infected. With how quickly this spreads it will run out of people to infect by June probably if people become immune.

If people don’t develop immunity then it will be a race against the clock to develop a treatment or vaccine. Until that happens the virus will just run its course and look as many people as it’s going to. Infections will come in waves potentially lasting several years again depending on how quickly we can get successful clinical trials from new or existing drugs.

So to repeat: best case scenario is that humans are unable to be infected twice which means it’s probably over during the summer, worst case scenario is repeated outbreaks in waves for years.

The truth is we majorly **** up the early stages of the outbreak in this country and we are completely at the mercy of whatever this virus is able to do. I find it hard to believe that e we will simply allow our economy to be destroyed by cancelling everything even going into the fall because economic interests are everything in this country but it’s not out of the realm of possibility that school is canceled for the fall semester. Our vulnerable populations will be **** by this virus and frankly a large percentage of them are going to die and there’s not much we can do right now. We are very quickly going to overwhelm our max capacity for ICUs/ventilators and infection rates will keep growing exponentially after that and things will get even worse when healthcare workers start getting sick. We took a massive gamble in the early stages of this outbreak and don’t have near the capacity to put our money where our mouth was.

In the meantime you have almost no risk of dying from this disease but you can get very sick and potentially hospitalized. Please do not under any circumstances have any in person contact with elderly relatives because 35% of people with the virus show no symptoms and your mistake could easily Kill them.

Folks please stay home as much as possible. Even if you are young and healthy you are putting thousands of people at risk just by being a potential spreader of the virus. Our healthcare system has limited capacity and if enough COVID patients are hospitalized (and the critical number is so low it would shock you) anyone who depends on hospital services is in deep trouble. That’s cancer patients, people with diabetes, heart disease, hell even people in car accidents. Cancer patients go to the hospital to receive chemotherapy where they are very likely to be infected and very likely to die from an infection. And if they need hospitalization for complications from cancer there may be no way to help them.

Please, please stay home. This is more serious than one virus. Staying home will save lives.

I believe copays have now been waived which means it’s actually free if you have insurance. So the difference is even more stark. It is a disgrace.

On a personal note I had MERS-CoV in 2019 which had similar symptoms but doesn’t spread easily. It was a nasty sickness and I was bedridden for 5 days. Probably the sickest I’ve ever been. Luckily I didn’t spread it to anyone that I know of despite spending a whole day in a car with some people but it was terrible nonetheless.

Remember that when people say young healthy people “don’t have to worry” it just means you won’t die. You can still be miserable in the meantime.

The #1 truth is that this is something new and so no one really knows how it will go.

It's not an "out of the blue" thing as we've had lots of speculation as to how a modern pandemic would go, but this whole thing where it seems like all of society around the world is in the process of shutting down? We haven't had to actually do that.

What's definitely the case though is we can expect general trends of growth in terms of those who are affected. If you're in a country where the number appear to still be skyrocketing and the government hasn't really done anything to lock people down in specific buildings, like the US, then I'd expect numbers to keep going up for a good while yet.

Longer range travel is starting to get shut down which could conceivably keep the virus from spreading some places, but it's probably too metastasized at this point to expect it to not hit anywhere close to cities, so the best we can likely hope for is just to slow things down enough that less people need to be hospitalized at the same time, which would decrease the amount of deaths.

Society will likely be fine in the long term, but we'll see how ugly things get when our systems break down - systems beyond health care, our capitalist network is going to break down for a while. Poor people are going to die for reasons that have nothing to do with COVID-19 per se.

Anyway, stay safe, be responsible, be smarter than the average Gobert - should be easy if you use your brain earnestly.

It's so embarrassing as an America that our systems are so dysfunctional. We're supposed to be the New World with all the great new ideas.

Yup, Germany has already come out and said they expect anywhere from 50 to 60% of the population to be infected and they took a much quicker course of action than the almighty United States of America.

Could you imagine what would happen if it entered a prison or jail?

Society will likely be fine in the long term, but we'll see how ugly things get when our systems break down - systems beyond health care, our capitalist network is going to break down for a while. Poor people are going to die for reasons that have nothing to do with COVID-19 per se.

Yup, if there is anything good that can come from this it is the sheer benefits of Universal Basic Income and Medicare for All. The fact is a society chooses to bat an eye to these potentially fantastic benefits and instead is focused so much on the stock market should hopefully wake people up from the cave they choose to live in.

Anyway, stay safe, be responsible, be smarter than the average Gobert - should be easy if you use your brain earnestly.
