He was obviously pressing at the end of the game, but the guy has some talent. If he was 22, he'd be worth a look. He's 28 though, so what's the point?

Can someone explain the logic here?
Why are they claiming a vet scorer down the stretch of a lost season? As has been mentioned, if he was like 4-5 years younger I'd get it but this just seems pointless. It's a move that a playoff team should make.

These are the Pistons NYPiston. No logic needed. Casey is hoping we pick up a few more over 30 year old guys to push Sekou and Svi out of the rotation.

It's funny that they talk about this "awakening" Gores had and that their ready to go full rebuild yet all signs point to something different with them seeing Rose as an important part of the plan next season and them claiming this vet for the sake of what I assume is having a cheap scoring option next season.
Think about it, how many rebuilding teams have three 30 year olds (assuming that McRae is signed) leading them?

Strike first. Strike hard. No mercy.

Just when the fans were starting to get comfortable with total tanking, we introduce the Orange Mamba into the equation! We want the fans on edge and nervous at the prospect that we might not have a top-3 pick. Fortunately Pistons fans never die!

Yeah, that's it.. LOL

I really want to see more King, because he is tall, can shoot and has a 7 ft wingspan. He is NOT on any injry report that I can find. But instead McRae gets 25 minutes, going to the game directly from the airport!! :banghead:

“He’s got all the skills,” Dwane Casey said last week after King got his first NBA minutes in a game yet to be decided. “I thought he should’ve been a first-round pick. I don’t know why dropped.” Casey paused, then continued. “I have an idea,” he said, “But he should’ve been a first-round pick.”

There were some questions about King’s maturity, physical and otherwise, and King himself admitted last July, as he awaited his first Summer League game, that was the feedback he got as the draft process wound down. He was one of only three players tested in the bench press at the NBA draft combine last May who was unable to lift 185 pounds even once.

That – physical development – will be a dominant theme of the off-season ahead for King. But you can’t teach a 7-foot wing span, shooting touch and ball skills, all part of the package that made King the No. 20 prospect according to RSCI, a consensus ranking of the most prominent recruiting services, in the 2018 class.

I'm not super high on king at this point, but we really have to be taking a look at all the young guys. It doesn't make any sense to sign someone to a 10 day or 2-way and then not give them a meaningful look. There just isn't enough practice time during the season to evaluate them any other way.

i feel he can be a contributor on a NBA team sometime in the future based on his potential just needs playing time.

Pistons must know what they have with Thomas and decided a while ago it's not worth having. It seems they've actively worked not to play him. King looked at least like he belonged on the floor - couldn't say the same for Boone yet. McRae they got for free. Pistons aren't going to just be playing 21 year olds next year. A quick flier on a cheap free agent seems a reasonable gambit while tanking.

Picking up Mcrea makes me wonder what exactly is wrong that keeps Khyri Thomas from getting minutes.
