A celebrity playing the victim role because he can't go through an entrance anymore. He was offered another entrance for VIPs only and still wanted to play the victim.

Spike must be a very paranoid man when he's in the Garden.
If your allowed to go through employee entrance for years and suddenly one day you get told you can't isn't that a problem? This is probably stoute rose doing Dolan just doesn't care about fans loyalty.

Spike doesn't own MSG does he? Policies change, who knows, maybe they had to up the security protocols in that area.

I still blame the employee that scanned his ticket and let him go through. If the employee knew about this change, he should've warned Spike at the door and this whole situation wouldn't be a thing.

I'm all for the media putting more pressure on the NBA/Dolan to sell the team, but this is really dumb.

"they politely asked me to go through the celebrity VIP entrance" as the next great moment in protest iconography really says it all about victimhood in 2020

This is false. They politely asked him to leave the building after he already had his ticket scanned and go to another entrance.

In any case, we seem to be confusing the symptoms with the sickness. We are arguing over symptoms. This is a continued trend of botched public relations from Knicks organization. There is a price for the botched PR. We are paying for this with the product on the floor. Knicks are a joke of a franchise in the public’s eye. You can’t recruit with this image.

Ok just need to chime in as an NBA FAN as this entire incident is making me so upset.

So it is SO CLEAR that James Dolan is a moron. Everything he does turns to ashes. I'm still upset that he fired Glen Glunwald who led the Knicks to their first 50 game season in a while, the Oakley incident, now disrespecting your #1 fan who has paid over $10million in season tickets despite a horrible on court product. We must understand that type of incidents DO NOT OCCUR in any well ran organization PERIOD. It HURTS ME SO **** BAD, to witness this moron James Dolan destroy the franchise I would root for before Toronto ever had a team.

My question is - Why do so many people still support this fool? That is the part I never understood! EVERYTHING HE DOES is pathetic. I've seen so many videos of him and how he treats fans who pay hard earned dollars, he is a disrespectful, unwise business person and his shadow from the top is destroying everything below. Yet despite all this, I don't see a collective outrage from New York.

He is without a shadow of a doubt the WORST OWNER IN SPORTS HISTORY and is destroying the NBA by alienating our most beloved Market and the CORNERSTONE CITY FOR all basketball history. I pray for the day when the Raptors face the Knicks, and Rowdy Knick fans would invade the ACC.

PLEASE - PLEASE - PLEASE - for the love of god - stop sugar coating this FOOL and start taking a damn stand against him and everything he stands for. He is a cancer to the NBA and I really hope Adam Silver comes in and gets rid of him, so the KNICKS can finally be FREE, and your amazing city and fanbase can get a team that GOES TO THE PLAYOFFS and competes at a high level as it deserves.

Odd when someone is against special privledge, but then wants special privledge because he is a celeb who spends money. Policies change, you aren't an employee. All you gotta do is say , "okay, I'm in here now, but I will do that next time. Thanks for letting me know."

Your rights weren't violated. You're acting like a child. Why should anyone care that you can't use the employees only entrance anymore?

And lol at him saying "they call me when I'm late to pay" - as if this guy hasn't used autopay for the last 15 years.

Two clowns, Dolan and Spike.

This just shows that the Knicks are a joke and anyone supporting this sorry team are fools.i stopped watching all of their games . The last time they made to the ecf was 20 years ago. Dolan needs to be let go . He’s not a owner who just writes the checks. He’s a terrible human being . The way he conducts himself and the way he talks is not how a human being should be. Plus the porzingis trade was so bad, we barely got any assets out of it . If spike lee is not watching anymore games , why should we still watch! This team can’t shoot , can’t shoot FREE throws . Can’t do anything . Sure you see a nice Mitchell Robinson dunk . But who cares. There’s no winning . Frank scoring 10 points excites most people here . He just a role player that’s it. I don’t think he ever scored 20 points ever. I’m done being a knicks fan. The only time I’ll return is if Dolan is gone for good and sells the team.

Jesus, reading some of these comments makes me think Dolan has multiple burner accounts. That or they work in the PR unit or they're that gullible.

An MSG service rep should have called Spike Lee ahead of time to inform him of the new entrance policies. Failing that, someone should have been at the gate entrance to escort him through the facility while explaining to him that next time he'll have to go through the VIP entrance instead of the employee entrance. After the incident someone not named James Dolan should have approached Spike Lee during the game to apologize to him, the paying customer, for the lack of communication before the game.

MSG could have handled this whole situation in a dozen different ways to prevent the PR disaster they have now. Spike Lee may be acting like an entitled VIP but that's because he actually is an entitled VIP. He pays good money for good customer service and he has a right to be upset when that customer service falls short of expectations.

Exactly only espn and blind people can put this on Dolan. You think the owner of the knicks and multiple other things is that petty that he’s saying don’t let spike through employee entrance ? Like spike said he was just there a couple days prior WhY would Dolan all of a sudden say that . You know how, because it’s been a rule that’s been in place and spike was given the benefit of the doubt until that particular guard that day said enough is enough .

Actually, yes to the bolded.

At this point there isn't really anything petty enough that I would consider it too petty for Dolan.

That's the patheticness of Dolan -- so big and yet so small.

So what? If someone spends 10 million at Walmart that doesn't give them the right to use any entrance they want.

That’s all fine and dandy, but your just assuming with no facts . Your basing pettiness off of Oakley and fans saying something to Dolan. I didn’t see any reason for him to single out spike, did spike do/say anything to him in the past few days ? If not why now?

I'm not making any assumptions about the specific situation with Spike Lee.

I'm saying that something being petty is not a reason to reason to doubt that Dolan would do it.

^regardless of everything, Spike proved he was full of **** when he said they (him and Dolan) never spoke about it and that he never stood or shook Dolans hand. Then the picture came out showing Spike shaking Dolans hand and looking like a good little mascot.

Dolan is wrong by definition. Everyone who supports him at any matter supports this mess. He's a cancer and he needs to sell.

In Dolan's mind (and most CEOs for that matter), the customer is always wrong.

When an organization uses a "laughable" word to defend itself by offending its 1 super fan/ paying customer, it really should not receive any more support from that point forward on.

In basketball, it's said that "the best defense is offense", it's what Dolan literally adopted to utilise in his day to day personal and professional life. In order to defend the self-assessed fragile foundation of his own self esteem (because it's built and based on quick instant gratifying validation crutches - that he himself has found to not build to last - from his yes people around him who either 1. have personal agendas that seek to benefit from his wealth, or 2. want nothing to do with him because they're terrified of him and will do whatever Dolan asks them) from crumbling down from potential attacks from his opposers, he would go out of his way to, what Stephen A described Dolan acting out of delusion of paranoia, initiate attack on those who are perceived as having such ability to do so.
