Cowboy did nada, I'm sure you were hoping Cowboy would chop down Conor's leg or take him down as well. Bad, bad Wingo!

But, yes, this should fight should be next after Khabib/Tony.

I'd tread lightly unless you want Cole and Tanaka to go down with shoulder bursitis.

Ref ruined the cutelaba fight. Head butt and weight miss makes the figuriedo finish controversial but it was beautiful, two different sizes altogether. The finishes tonight were good but not a lot to get hype off of. Deveison is a highlight reel though.

That head but was 100% initiated by Benavidez though. I’m actually happy the ref didn’t stop the action. He kinda set him self up for his own demise with how he tries to close distance swinging that overhand right with his head down.. That way Deveison was framing Benavidez to his power side before the final kill shot was masterful.

The cutelaba stoppage was egregious on every level though. That must get changed to a no-contest. Stopping a man on this feet in the middle of the octagon? Has that ever even happened before?

Fighters have been knocked out "on their feet" which is what I think the color announcer said might be the case during that part of the fight. The dude looked like he wasn't all there ... until the ref stopped it then he seemed perfectly fine. :dontknow: I would've preferred the fight to continue so that Ion would really get bludgeoned. I'm not cool with what he did prior to the fight starting.

a fighter can get knocked out on their feet but it’s always against the fence. the legs are the first thing to go when you’re knocked out. cutelaba was definitely playing possum.

we were really robbed of mogmed knocking his punk azz out though you’re right about that

Well fam, after a pretty long stretch of subpar events we finally have a damn near guaranteed great one. Israel Adesanya vs Yoel Romero; Weili Zhang vs Joanna Jerdzejcyk; Beneil Dariush vs Drakkar Klose; Sean O'Malley vs Jose Quinonez...it keeps going fam! Straight up every fight on the main card pairs quality fighters in style clashes that make them tough to predict. The two main events are potentially the next big stars for MMA vs vets who have consistently been at the top of their division in title fights. The prelims are stacked too with a rising star in the main event there.

For the first time in 2020, we're getting a legitimately complete card. Now let's just hope everyone makes weight and no one throws a dolly.

Re: Official MMA discussion thread pt 2: UFC 248 Adesanya vs Romero (best card of the year so far)

Post#690 » by j4remi » Fri Mar 6, 2020 1:41 pm

https://anchor.fm/FTESWL/episodes/UFC-248-Preview-Podcast-eb9spb

Prediction podcast up. We talked the two mains, Klose/Dariush, Jingliang vs Magny and O'Malley vs Quinones.

I'll be a bit busy so not sure I can fit in a typical write-up but will try to slip some in as well.

Short version:
I think Yoel has a chance to catch Adesanya if he times his explosions and works inside before he explodes...but I'm going Adesanya and went so far as to go with head kick KO late in the cast.

I think JJ is a much more intriguing threat to Zhang than many give her credit. That comes down to JJ's incredible footwork. This is a rare case where I think the aggressor could be the one to cost themselves as both are better countering than moving forward. Leaning toward Zhang off size, clinch and power but barely bc JJ has footwork and a jab that should make things difficult.

I think Dariush beats Klose by taking advantage of Klose getting overaggressive in spots during every fight. If Klose keeps his emotions in check it's a toss up.

I like Jingliang for the upset but I stan him. 5 Performance awards in his last 6 UFC bouts.

O'Malley over Quinones and I'm really interested to see what two years of training have done to round out the already promising prospect.

The forehead on Joanna. She was unrecognizable.

Great card but the last one was meh. Adesanya did not want to fully engage at all. He played it safe.

Was legit concerned for Joanna, that head is looking ugly.

Yoel vs. Izzy wasn't what I was expecting lmao

I thought Yoel would troll Izzy for 3-4 rounds to save his gas tank and then unleash like typical Yoel. What the hell was Yoel thinking?
