CP3 at 38 will still be far better than any player that would be willing to sign with the Knicks. And since most of OKC's assets will be on rookie deals while CP3 is there, OKC has no immediate need to move him. OKC would need to be getting something back for CP3 and I don't see anything in NYK that OKC would want.... so it won't happen.
The Thunder would be made to send out any assets along with CP3. They have overachieved and should still be looking to rebuild rather than compensate another team, especially the Knicks, to take on CP3
Your statement doesn't make sense... at least not to me. They should be rebuilding
and sending out assets? You don't give up assets to get off bad money when you are rebuilding. You take on bad money to get assets, which is what they did this past summer. And technically, it's only bad money when you need it to sign another player, which OKC doesn't at the moment.
If OKC gets to the point that having CP3 around is viewed as a negative they will either trade him for assets or pay him to go away. There is no need for OKC to give up assets when they are years away from needing to pay anyone. Right now, OKC's only motivation to trade CP3 would be to bring back assets.
