He was fine against Houston. Kemba was out and he only played 13 minutes. In the playoffs in a tight game, Wanamaker is plying like 6-10 minutes max. He got boomed by washed up Rajon Rondo for 8 minutes, big deal. Rondo has a good game once a month.

Ehhh wouldn’t be shocked for Wanamaker to still be getting 15 mins in the playoffs honestly. He’s been playing that all year even without injuries.
That’s the issue. If he’s playing close to 20 mins a night in playoffs we have an issue

Ok, how do you solve this supposed issue?
If he's seeing 15 minutes its one of several things: it's the first round, the game isn't close, someone is hurt, or he's playing so well that he should be playing 15 minutes. There are zero buyout guys who would be taking minutes from Wanamaker. From Semi/Langford/Grant? Sure, maybe. But zero guards who are better than Wanamaker.

He was falling out of the rotation entirely when Kemba was healthy last. He shouldn’t see a single minute outside garbage time in the postseason IMO

I agree no buyout guys better. The issue is they couldn’t find someone in the offseason. It is what it is at this point. Just gotta hope starters can go heavy minutes in playoffs

Who would have been better in the offseason then? If you're going to make a claim like this, give me a name. This dude literally makes the lowest amount that the CBA allows you to pay players.
Trust me, I'm crying too.

Just saw on my fantasy league that the piston’s claimed Jordan Mcrae a few days ago. He would have been a good scoring option off the bench. I remembered he played well when Beal was out. I guess Ainge is really done acquiring players. Just like last year. Teams are actively trying to get better, while we choose to just stay dormant.

Yes, Jordan Mcrae. The guy who has been on 5 teams in 5 years and would instantly be the least efficient scorer on Boston outside of Carsen Edwards. If only Ainge could get guys like that.

Not really! He’s better than most of our bench players not named smart and kanter. Definitely better than wanamaker, green, carsen and langford (right now). I’m talking about offensively. He’s got several good scoring games this season. If you’re talking about efficiency, Smart would be the worst.

"Poirier hasn’t learned Stevens’s system or met expectations." https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/03/06/sports/celtics-still-have-time-add-scorer-off-bench/
Ouch.
'Every Celtic this season has served a purpose from one to 14. Poirier, who could perhaps improve with a full offseason of work, has been the only one without a role."
Ouch again.

I still don't understand how they could give $5M guaranteed to an unknown/unproven international player. Even Larkin, Theis, and Wanamaker started with the minimum. At least they gave him enough to buy those fancy shirts and sex pants that he wears on the sidelines and on IG.

He's def been a nothingburger, but I stopped reading the article when he said they should just outright cut Poirier. They aren't eating 2.7mm on next year's cap so they can sign some 'scorer' (who?). Guaranteed he mentions bums like Troy Daniels, Isaiah Thomas and Allen Crabbe. Gary Washburn, if you post here, I hate you.
5 mil is nothing, they gave him what like 1 million over the vet minimum per year to lure him? If it doesn't work out, oh well. He's still just 26 and maybe he can be a spot 10-12 mpg guy next year. Seems like it's not that hard, just set a million screens and catch some lobs.

Bums like Troy Daniels, Isaiah Thomas, Allen Crabbe etc. will make contributions. Guys like Green and Poirier won't. Doesn't matter, Ainge refuses to give this current team any help.

If Toronto's able to pluck nobobies from the G-League and turn them into contributors, why can't we?

at his best, Brad Wanamaker doesnt make us much worse.
The three bums you mentioned do. Wanamaker is better than IT by every conceivable metric.

There is no one on the buyout market who makes the team better, unless someone like Shane Larkin or Nikola Mirotic can get out of his European contract. Will Clyburn has also been playing well in Moscow, but he's no better than Wanamaker.

Bryce Brown is a certified sniper out of Auburn. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him make the roster next year as the 15th man or at least be on a two-way. If not, I’m sure he’ll find a home with some other NBA team but man can he shoot the lights out

Yeah. Bryce Brown on the Maine Red Claws. He's a 42% 3pt shooter.
I could see the Celtics signing him to a Two-Way (2020-21). Not sure if we'll have room on the regular Roster, though.
But you're right, he'll latch on with some NBA team.
I'm surprised that he hasn't been picked up already.

Re: Buyout Thread: If Celtics get a player in buyout market, who would be cut?
i remember bryce brown from college, but havent had the chance to actually watch him since. i liked his game. can knock down open shots from anywhere on the floor AND, at least in college, played strong on-ball defense.
kind of a tweener, and a mediocre creator at best...
anybody seen him more recently? obviously he can shoot....i'd like to see what people who have watched him in the nabdl think. i wish i could watch red claws game, but even though i get the league pass and in-turn NBCSB, they black out red claws games.
one thing that ill mention is that i keep seeing people say that we need a "shooter". i wouldnt be mad at that, but one-trick ponies aren't that valuable, particularly in today's league, where versatility is key.
