Where are you getting that information? He is currently shooting just under 68% inside of 3 ft per basketball reference. He definitely can improve his handle and finishing ability at the rim, but I'm not sure where you're getting your data.

FG% inside 3 feet accounts all shots including those who aren't contested as transition. Drives in the other hand are in the half court and when the defense can contest the shot.
I noticed him struggling in drives to the basket, finishing, when he first got here. Some of us chatted about it then. But in recent games he has showed improvement already. Very quick change imo. That got me to back off complaining about it. I'm assuming those early struggles here accounts for some of the lower numbers. At the time I noted it as the only weakness I saw. If he's already starting to turn that into yet another positive the sky is the limit. He may or may not become elite at drives, but just being competent there is enough given everything else he's doing.
