Reeks of Kyrie, kd and DeAndre having a hand in this. If Ky and KD fully endorsed, he still would be the coach.

Anything to get Casey out of here. He was brought to compete, not to rebuild. A team this atrocious not playing their rookie 30+ minutes a night is astoundingly stupid.

Need a true tank commander in place that plays rookies, and prospects.

This is such a terrible take. Casey played the rookie 30+ minutes per night for a good stretch and the kid was one of the worst players in the NBA. Reducing his role and giving him G league minutes to rebuild his confidence is a pro move.

^ agreed. Sekou hit a wall mid-January and hasn't been as effective since. He needs either instruction, rest, and/or confidence. Or maybe he's injured in some way that we don't know about. But minutes aren't his problem right now.

I disagree and think yours is a terrible take. The only way you get experience is by doing a thing.

Just so I understand, it would be better to not play the rookie unless it's under specific circumstances which may or may not damage his confidence? It would be better for him to play against lesser competitors to what end exactly? Why would he improve more playing against worse competition?

He should be starting every single game, playing 30mpg at the least to properly asses his strengths, and weaknesses. Or is it only top 5 draft picks, and players like Doncic that benefit from tons of playing time? Starting? Anyone drafted past pick 8 should be coddled until year 2? 3?

Let's break it down exactly when and how a rookie should be played and let's make sure we use this current Pistons team as a measuring stick. It is currently the 6th worst team in the league and your saying he shouldn't be playing at all? Spot minutes? Coming off the bench for 14mpg? What exactly?

In Denver there is a big brouhaha about not playing their rookie and he just got a DNP in their last game and their media criticized the coach.

This team sucks ass. It's hope is to tank and land top draft picks and prospects. Playing the current rookie will help assess if he is part of the future. How can the team do that if he doesn't play?

Agree with zeebneeb. Is the hope that the Pistons get a top pick and then not play him next year? Maybe keep him in the G-league, to help his confidence?

Sekou played great for a while and showed he could play against high level talented guys 10 years older than him. Then Sekou was put in the corner for Casey's system. Casey should spend some time and draw up some plays for Sekou.

Not sure how good of a coach he is overall (don't watch many Nets games) but surely he gets some credit for helping that organisation shift from a absolute mess into what they've become.

Yeah Marks as GM has been key but Kenny did his part.

Note: really disappointed not a single thread about him leaving has been titled "OMG they just killed Kenny"!
