His strength and confidence have obviously improved. His overall play has followed.

Former "GM" Wes Wilcox was discussing him the other day. Said he's had a disappointing season so far .. however .. with young guys, you don't necessarily measure production. You track progress. Said CodeReddish has obviously progressed which is a nod to the work he's done and the development in Atlanta.

I'm looking forward to more.

This one way to spend your time off during the AS Break. I'm actually pleasantly surprised he didn't immeidately run off to CHI to spend the weekend there.

(Though, TBH, he probably isn't old enough or famous enough to get into most events, yet.)

I'm glad Cam is slowly proving me wrong! He has been alot better being on the bench and coming out with the second unit. I would like to see Cam at th PG spot and have him backup Trae at PG for the rest of the year. Maybe if Cam can start seeing the court like how a PG does, we can have Trae and Cam playing together one day and being a way better version of Teague and Schroder

Reddish has worked extensively with Vince Carter before and after practices to help with his footwork. Every single detail of what Reddish should do with his feet has been dissected by Carter, from how his toes should be pointed to how they should be aligned before he receives a pass.

Behind the scenes, Trae Young was influential in helping Reddish maintain confidence even with the numbers telling him the opposite. Young started his rookie year poorly and also received the same bust label that Reddish received. But the killer mentality lives inside of Young, and he lives to prove people wrong. That mentality is something he’s trying to help Reddish discover within himself.

“I think sometimes it just takes one shot going down to get your confidence back. I don’t even think he’s lost confidence, but when you see one go down, it starts to trigger your game,” Young said. “That’s what happened to me. I think I shot worse than he did at the beginning of last season. (Just for one month, he was told.) He shot worse? Well, we were both bad. But it really just takes one to go down to really get going.

“We’ve won a couple of games this year with just his defense alone. It’s not a surprise to see this. He’s really good at scoring at one end and really good at defending at the other end. He definitely can be one of the best two-way players as he gets older and stronger. When everything comes together, he can be one of the best in our league.”

Cam Reddish, Atlanta

Reddish was as bad as any drafted player in November but has been on a steady uptick ever since. In fact, of all the players in the draft, he is the one who has most steadily progressed over the course of the season ... To the point that it’s now fair to wonder if he might actually end up outperforming his spot in this draft (emphasis on THIS draft).

Reddish has improved his efficiency across multiple avenues – he’s turning the ball over less (partly because the Hawks realized he’s not a backup point guard and shouldn’t be handling the ball unless it’s absolutely necessary, but still), has been a much more decisive and effective finisher around the basket, and his still-shaky looking 3-ball has settled in at an acceptable percentage.

Reddish doesn’t need to be awesome offensively because he has enough defensive chops to stay on the floor. With his size and hands, Reddish is often used by the Hawks to guard the opponents’ best offensive player, and while he’s still a bit away from filling that assignment on a good team, he’s clearly the most qualified member of this roster.

The last two months haven’t quite offset a brutal first third of the season in looking at his overall stats – an 8.4 PER and just 36.8 percent shooting – but if he can sustain this play over the final 20 games, the Hawks can reasonably project him forward as a “D-and-sometimes-3” starter.

I loved the pick and I'm still bullish on him. I think his floor is Trevor Ariza and his ceiling is somewhere around Jimmy Butler. Either way, he should be a good two-way player for a long time.

I am really excited for Cam's emergence.

It isn't lost on me that a fair amount of this is with him coming off the bench...the role he should have had from the start.

Soon a new debate is likely to begin: who should be starting...Cam, Kevin, DeAndre or Clint?

During the 2019 draft process, opinions about Reddish varied from "best player in the draft" to "wouldn't want him anywhere near my team." So far the stats lean toward the latter, with Reddish shooting 37 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range -- not exactly what you're looking for from someone billed as a shooter. His overall offense ranks among the worst in the league at 0.836 points per possession, according to Synergy Sports Technology. However, over his last 19 games (including 10 starts), Reddish's efficiency has made a huge jump to 44 percent from the field and 41 percent from deep, with five of the six 20-point games of his career coming during that stretch. He's also one of the few Hawks who can make a defensive impact, averaging over a steal per game. As Trae Young starts to possibly gets some nights off toward the end of the year, it will be interesting to see if Atlanta can run its offense through Reddish.

Yeah Kev is likely is gonna end up in that spot in the future, especially if Cam keeps this up. The thing about these games he’s having is that they don’t look like just some lucky games where it was just his night that night, he looks like he knows exactly what he wants to do and is confident that he can do it. It’s almost a night and day difference between now and the beginning of the season.

But yeah I see us picking up an established wing in the near(ish) future making Kev and Hunter two very solid bench contributors which would make our team soooo good.
