Wow, great front office move I was hoping for. This Big has skills and comes cheap. Other than passing on talent in the 2nd round that I would rather see on the roster, the offseason moves have been brilliant. Bravo Pistons.

Watched some highlights on Wood. Dude seems to make some smart cuts and runs some good lanes on the break.

Yeah his 3s were dropping and he was swatting people all over but kind of expect that in a highlight package. It's the other stuff that is more important to me

Worth pointing out we basically passed on #30 OA to be able to claim Christian Wood. Money we saved with a trade down and draft and stash left us the money under the tax for this guy. Does he outplay Claxton or Fernando?

The draft occurred before free agency. So at the time Detroit didn't know who they would/could sign nor how much money they were going to spend signing them.

That fact along with this waiver claim for Wood, lend more credence as to why I was never buying the draft moves being a money thing or a too many developmentals on the roster thing.

What Detroit did with #30 + #45 was terrible. They can try to frame it however they want, but it sure appears that the series of events starting with moving off of #30 was primarily made to get Gores some pocket money and do a favor for Arn Tellum's son.

That's a valid point, but something just doesn't seem right about the pick. If the pick was being made as a pure draft and stash strategy, why is there question as to if he is going to return to his former team or not? We still don't know where this guy is going to be next season. His former team sure seems to be trying to push him out the door.

At the very least it appears Detroit didn't do enough homework on Sirvydis.

Love it. Don't necessarily love Wood specifically, but this is the type of signing then need to make consistently when filling out a roster. We don't need any more 35 year old guys signed to be a "locker room presence." We need to keep bringing in young guys with upside. Yes, the majority of the time the won't pan out, but the small percentage of time they really hit can be major boosts for the franchise both on the court and in terms of salary cap.

Wood's a good pickup for sure but there's another player that's suddenly available that I've been super invested in since last years draft. Kostas Antetokounmpo, love his potential as a Giannis clone. Just got dropped by Dallas, I wish he was on the Pistons radar. Anyone else here like Kostas as a prospect? And would it be possible to claim him even with all our roster spots filled up?
