NBA Season Suspended: Indiana impacts
With the sports world starting to shut down, it hits closer to home as Nebraska coach Fred Hoiberg felt poorly all day, but coached through his teams big ten tourney loss to IU, but had to leave early due to his illness. His team is now being quarantined in the locker rooms.
Seems like we might have some time off from a lot of the sports world at large. Whether or not you agree, everyone be smart, safe, and calm.

Put on a mask if you are feeling unwell, so that you don't pass anything on to other people

A hiatus on games might actually help our guys get healthy and not try to rush back too quickly.

A hiatus on large gatherings is what’s best for society at large. Live your lives but take some protective measures. Wash your hands thoroughly and often. If you’re not feeling well, stay home. And stay calm.

Do orgies count as large gatherings? Asking for a friend.

Although it is hard to know what may have been lost in translation from what the teams actually said, to what the sources told Woj and on and on, the idea that teams would want a government mandate in advance of making a move to help protect their staff, players and the fans is more than a little disturbing.
I realize the owners have a ton of money at stake, and that decisions of this magnitude are difficult at best, but...
Maybe I'm just reading part of this wrong? Anyone have a clear yet different view on this?

It reads as if for any number of reasons the Pacers would prefer to play games with fans in the stands, if we are to play games at all, unless they are mandated by local, state, or federal governments in some way.
Could be they don't want to ruin the experience for fans who otherwise might not have come? Could also be that they desperately want the ticket, concession, and souvenir sales. Or anything in between.

I think it's pretty obvious some teams rely on attendance revenue. The Pacers can't count as much TV money as a team like the Lakers.
It would be better for the Pacers to postpone the NBA season rather than play games with nobody there, but I bet it becomes a moot point now that some players have tested positive.

assuming we're talking history and not joking, 90% of the inhabitants of pre-Columbian America died from European germs.

Yes. In short, they died from a foreign invader.

Hoiberg tested positive for Influenza A and negative for Covid-19.

Could be as simple as Simon getting bad advice from someone he trusts on the risks. Could very well also be just looking at the bottom line and not caring about anything else. Probably somewhere in between but not a great look where the other two owners are two of the bigger jackasses in the league right now.Tom White wrote:Scoot McGroot wrote:?s=21
