This might be a blessing in disguise for the NBA.

Maybe it will start a precedent to start the season late every year and end a couple months later. Won't have to compete with the NFL nearly as much.

Meaningful basketball games all the way through the summer would be killer as well.

Bet they can get some outdoor games in there as well, sick.

Rudy Gobert is an ass hole.

Maybe this will lower his trade value.

His teammates have to be pissed. Whether or not he got the virus from rubbing those mics is up for debate, but either way his behavior is reckless and the fact that several Jazz players TOLD Woj what he was doing says to me that they're upset with him, and for good reason. These guys have families and loved ones who the virus could easily spread to.

One of the league owners, I forgot who, was pushing for the NBA to begin in December. If league play doesn't resume until June then he'll get his wish.

I would be all for the NBA lasting from December til August. It would be perfect because their only competitor would be MLB, barring World Cup years of course. Imagine we get to watch the NBA all the way up until the end of the summer?

Man this is insane. Do you think it's going to be worst than the spanish flu? I heard half the people that caught it are beating it now or getting better. And I'm only hearing old ppl or ppl with weak immune systems are dying. IDK

That would be dope, basketball in the summer. There is no sport in the summer worth watching, other than baseball. But what about the Olympics? This is why I doubt that will happen

^^^Please read that and educate yourself. For some reason up until last night the public has been lulled into a false sense of security (and frankly, the Trump Administration holds a lot of blame for this) that this isn't serious. The NBA took one player testing positive more seriously than the US government. Think about that for a second, and realize how nasty this is going to become here.

While most of the victims are elderly and people with compromised immune systems, that doesn't mean that younger people can't end up dying from it.

If I had to sacrifice NBA player involvement in the Olympics for Basketball all summer long, I'm saying **** the olympics bro

Think about it, 4th of July weekend in 2021, Nets vs. Celtics on ABC in primetime. A nice cool beer on a beautiful 70 degree night. KD and Kyrie going to work. What could be better?

Hell, we might have the possibility of having basketball on 4th of July weekend this year WITH KD back depending on when things cool off.

While most of the victims are elderly and people with compromised immune systems, that doesn't mean that younger people can't end up dying from it.

"Most people (about 80%) recover from the disease without needing special treatment. Around 1 out of every 6 people who gets COVID-19 becomes seriously ill and develops difficulty breathing. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like high blood pressure, heart problems or diabetes, are more likely to develop serious illness."

So it seems like it is beatable and ppl are really getting better. We should of been proactive and closed the borders a month ago. But yea it seemed like the NBA was ahead of the curve more than anybody. We are on edge right now, we don't know what's going to come next and that's what's frightening me.

If you're healthy, just practice good habits and try to keep your hands away from your face as much as possible.

I'm more concerned about my parents catching it since one has blood pressure issues and the other has diabetes and they're in the early 70s. :nonono:

The amount of people taking this as a joke after it's already shut down more than 2 countries is sick. I always think I'm getting numb to how selfish and ignorant people are and they always take it to a new low. It shouldn't take Rudy Gobert to open people's eyes when Italy is basically shut down - when China had to build hospitals to start dealing with this.

I'm glad the NBA went all in and didn't try to take half measures. Our government is doing nothing so it's better to be safe.

The really big concern is that the 15% of cases that require intense medical intervention will overwhelm the healthcare system if the number of infections gets high enough. Not only will that result in PREVENTABLE fatalities from COVID-19 due to a lack of resources but the number of preventable deaths as a whole will spike up.

And if hospitals become overwhelmed, they will literally have to start picking and choosing who lives and who dies.

All of this was preventable, but Trump is a **** ing **** bag. I hope karma serves him well.

yea thats very sad, i think they're already doing this in Italy if I'm not mistaken.

Don't tell Trump supporters that, they will swear that Trump was the one that wanted to be proactive first and they want to give him credit for signing that 8 billion dollar plan.

Props to the Nancy Pelosi.

I personally think based off of the last several days worth of information regarding certain people who have been in contact with him, Trump and Mike Pence might both be infected, but that's not a topic worth discussing.

Either way, I'm glad that The Speaker of the House managed to strike a deal. Lots of people need this especially working class folks with children who probably won't be going back to school until April, if we're lucky.

Interesting piece from the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. It is widely suspected that the outbreak in Iran is much, much worse than they are reporting with a death toll in the thousands and the government resorting to mass graves.
