Although his actions were not appropriate, shutdown was inevitable IMO until things got figured out. Chances of all NBA players avoiding Covid while it spread (projected) through half the US population is pretty much nil.

I don't think think you understand the concept here, which is, um... yikes. He's not "the cause of games being cancelled."

Cause was probably poor wording on my part.

I can't understand how we keep seeing this take. Nobody is mad at him for getting the virus. They're mad at him for being a dumbass and spreading it around, acting like it's a big joke. Look at these tweets:

It appears his teammates are mad at him. They're the ones who witnessed his behavior.

Hell no, once this thing is all done to think back people might thank Rudy for showing symptoms earlier

I'd leave it up to his teammates and the families of his teammates. If they can forgive him, so can the rest of us.

One year suspension , 5 million fine. At minimum . He acted in a reckless manner and needs to be held accountable. The NBA told the players the precautions , he knew about the precautions, and ignored them. He must be held liable.

The whole world wants to put blame on someone. People need to step back and have some perspective. This NBA season was going to get cancelled sooner or later... it was inevitable. We're talking about a global epidemic where entire countries, and hospitals are being quarantined. For anyone to try and put blame on Gobert is absolutely shameful. The players, staff, fans, media, etc... they travel constantly, and are constantly in contact with so many different people. Someone was going to catch it sooner than later. The Jazz had just come off of a 4 or 5 game road trip... could have just as easily contracted it during that trip as with the microphone stunt.

I get it... people are angry the NBA season is done. It is what it is. It wasn't very likely to make it another week or two without someone catching it. Chances are if other players catch it they won't announce it from here on out since the season is finished.

I think all of us (including Gobert) should use this as a lesson to be learned.

If Gobert is healthy, he should be fined something like $25K for improper behavior during world's pandemia. But considering he is infected with this dangerous virus, that is already worst possible punishment. Plus, this is going to damage his future marketability, like that famous dirty case which ruined Tiger Woods sponsors pool.

Indeed, my mother who barely knows anything about the NBA, it's players, and what's going on knows about this stunt. This will be a mark on him for the rest of his life, you know it's pretty big when knowledge of this event is spreading outside of the NBA fans.

The ppl defending Gobert is laughable had someone like kyrie irving done this there would be 50+ page threads roasting the **** out of him and the title of this thread would be "should irving be permanently banned or locked up in prison."

I think there's a possibility he never plays in the nba again. Once games start again, theres gonna he huge backlash from fans, even teammates. People wont forget this. He might have to go back to playing in France out of embarrassment
